Bottle from a random liquor shop in town for 470yen bought in honor of my upcoming trip to Nagoya. It pours a rich dark brown with a foamy beige head that’s slow to dissipate & leaves behind excellent lacing. A chocolatey aroma with some salty miso notes wafts from the glass. The first sips gives me a chewy & meaty mouthfeel. A smooth chocolate start segways into salty dark miso goodness. I had this beer for the first time years ago & it seems better than I remember. Nice. Maybe not the most complex beer but interesting & something that is truly Japanese. More for those who enjoy malty over hoppy beers though it isn’t all that sweet.

Small white head. Clear yellow body with carbonation. Fruity earthy honey aroma. Dryish floral grassy sugary taste with earthy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel, slightly fizzy. Dryish resiny floral honey aftertaste with papery earthy notes. Nice, drinkable, fresh. Probably better when new... (0.33l bottle, I forget where from.)

400 yen from the Kintetsu department in Kusatsu. A nice clear straw gold pour with a thick fluffy head of foam that lingered & leaves lots of lacing behind. The aroma is grassy with a sharp noble hop bite. Light body, a bit rough mid-mouth but a very bitter finish. It is ok but the bitter finish is really ascerbic, not for me. It is ok but too bitter & not smooth enough for a pilsner. I prefer their miso beer.

Bottle @ yespr. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a white head. Has a fruity malty grainy weak grassy aroma. Fruity malty grainy flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy grassy bitter finish.

Medium golden color. Nice frothy white head. Nice Saaz hop aroma. Well balanced mouth, snappy hops, slightly astringent at first, but hops really shine in the mouth. Moderately aggressive bitter finish. Slightly creamy mouth feel. Probably Kinshachi’s best beer.

5% On tap at the GJBF Osaka. A clear gold, no head. Funky herbal hop aroma. The taste is an earthy bitter slightly moldy hoppiness, decent but nothing special. Some graininess to it, ok.

Draught at Q-Brick. Deep Amber, lace. Nice caramel nose. Fruity caramel flavor. Ok but not much happening, and not clear why they needed a new brand.
