Description
Whiplash began as a side project for Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun from their own place of work and other friend’s breweries around Ireland. Professional beer dudes who were gypsying for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own pain in the neck with the guys going full time, brewing Whiplash beer all over Ireland and Europe. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery build and establish Ballyfermot, Dublin as Whiplash headquarters complete with their own custom designed brewhouse delivering small batches of big beers. Now with a home, a kit and a small crew: Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Can. Opaque dark black.- brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth and a little soft, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft mellow dark malts, mild biscuity dark chocolate. Modest pine and a trace of dark fruits before a light semi dry finish. Quite a mellow and simpe CDA, but fine.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at Mother Kelly's, Bethnal Green. Pours lightly hazy orange-gold with a creamy, white head. Some meaty citrus fruits in the nose, moderate bready pale malts. Light sweet flavour with more citrus character, some peach, tangerine, mellow rindy bitterness, more pale bread. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with further peach and tangerine, pear, pale bread, light bitter lemon rind, some pithy grapefruit. Nice stuff overall. Decent amount of depth for the ABV.

Medium body with a frothy texture. Light fizz. Outstanding for the ABV. The mouthfeel is particularly impressive. Whiplash are putting out some great beers lately.
