Description
Whiplash began as a side project for Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun from their own place of work and other friend’s breweries around Ireland. Professional beer dudes who were gypsying for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own pain in the neck with the guys going full time, brewing Whiplash beer all over Ireland and Europe. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery build and establish Ballyfermot, Dublin as Whiplash headquarters complete with their own custom designed brewhouse delivering small batches of big beers. Now with a home, a kit and a small crew: Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Can. Citra hops and others. Very hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry and with a fine minerally crispness. Smooth light malts, a mild creamy sweetness. Cooling pine and light fresh orange. Modest orange peel and hop skunk. Light finish. Good but it's no Gravity's Rainbow!

Light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry. Reasonable fine carbonation. Thin malts, light creamy sweetness. Decent hops - light orange and mild tropical fruits underneath. Touch of dry pith. Light semi dry finish. Nice enough. Light but as with so many session IPAs, thin.

Keg at BD Soho, 20/12/17. Lightly hazed golden orange with a well presented off white head. Nose is sharp citrics, pine needle, grassy, light skunky weed, burnt straw, lemon rind. Taste comprises grapefruit, orange pith, pine needle, light sweetness to balance with a touch of apricot jam, grassy bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with semi dank hop bitterness. Solid stuff .... a well balanced DIPA ... could sink plenty of this.

Can from Bottle Baron. Black body with a medium tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of cocoa, soy sauce and hazelnuts. Flavour of chocolate, caramel and Marmite. Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A rich, straightforward Imperial Stout that drinks like it’s half the ABV.

On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Gialla torbida, schiuma bianca media a bolle grossolane. Al naso sentori floreali e leggermente speziati, erbacei. In bocca è maltata all'attacco con finale amaro abbastanza deciso. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Non un granché.
