(draught at the brewpub) Cloudy, golden colour with a short foamy white layer. Sweet pale malty aroma with notes of biscuits, cara-malt, wort and alcohol, accompanied by subtle fruity accents. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Aolid malty base with biscuits and lighter herbal hoppy notes, leading into a sweet and slightly bitter hoppy finish with traces of alcohol. Could be better balanced. 04.V.10

(on tap at the brewpub) Hazy, reddish amber colour with a medium-sized, quite persistent off-white foamy head. Sugary sweet malty nose that reminds me of root syrup, also slightly yeasty with toasty notes. Sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Quite chalky, malty, slightly toasted taste with light notes of caramel; sweet and moderately bitter rooty malty finish with faint hoppy notes. Unconvincing Alt, which tastes more like a profane Dunkel. 08.II.08)

(swing top bottle, 100cl , purchased at the brewpub) Slightly hazy, amber colour with a big and persistent, slightly off-white foamy head. Moderately sweet grainy malty nose with a light smoky touch. Light-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft and pleasant mouthfeel. The smoke factor is more attenuated in the taste; smoke malty but also grainy taste; moderately dry, sweet-bitter and slightly smoked finish. Well-rounded and pleasant to drink. 12.XII.07

(on tap at the brewpub) Slightly hazy, amber colour with a small and light-beige foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasty malty nose with a whiff of caramel. Sweet sweet flavour, only medium bodied with a moderate carbonation, which is much better matured compared to their Pilsener. Solid malty base, slightly bready taste with notes of caramel; sweet malty and caramelly finish with a balancing bitterness at the very end. Not a world-shaking but pretty drinkable amber Bock. 08.12.07

(on tap at the brewpub) Slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a small but stable cremy white head. Sweet and slightly greenish wort-malty aroma with a light touch of herbal hops. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a sharp and quite fizzy carbonation. Malt-accented and worty taste with a light herbal blend; sweet and slightly bitter, also quite fizzy finish with a tinge of herbal hops shining through. Still drinkable but surely no highlight. 08.12.07

Bottle (1000ml): A bit unclear, deep golden, lacy, quite firm white head, sweet caramel and malt, some lost hops and a little smoke trail in the nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, soft MF, caramelly bitter-sweet finish with a good amount of smoked malt in the very end. A good, well balanced, easy-drinking smoked beer.........

Draught Hazy amber-fox beer with a toweringly huge, yellowish head. Very fresh smelling, slightly roasted smelling beer, the nose not preparing for... SMOKED! This is Rauchbier - superb. Lovely lightly smoked ham, with dry bread and malt added. Smoked taste builds up very gradually. Fullbodied, ending very dry. Excellent beer. Getting the glass tapped took forever, but it was worth waiting for.

Draught Bright gold, fluffy off-white head. Very dry grainy-malty nose with a soupçon of hops. Dry, straw/hay like Pilsner. Not hoppy, but full malty. A bit more bitterness in the finish. Light to medium body; MF is a bit burning in the ending. Good malty Pilsner, better than average.

Draught Copper-red beer with small amberish head. Bread, yeast, a bit grassy and ever so slightly roasted nose. Roasted and sweet, very well balanced, ending in caramel and grass. Warming up, some almondy notes. Well-bodied; long lasting, no new aftertaste. Very good "Ur"bock. Typical, but good.
