The Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery leads the Craft Beer Revolution in Ontario. Brewing radical Beers and creative Ales right on the waterfront in downtown Barrie since 2004, the Flying Monkeys was the first Ontario Craft Brewery to truly recognize the need to overthrow the conservative regime of macro-brews and timid small batch taste-a-likes and create a new Culture of Craft Brewing in our province.
Casting off the comfortable and respectable cloak of the Robert Simpson Brewing Company, and revealing our true selves as the Flying Monkeys late in 2008, we gave rise to the the collective creativity of our Brewery and committed our Brewhouse to the adventurous longings of the growing culture of Craft Beer Lovers in Ontario.

Medium brown. Smells like a lot of chocolate. Artificial, though. Medium body, chocolate quik sort of taste. Very artificial. So not sure how hard they were trying here. Cheap supermarket hot chocolate, lowish bitterness. This may be a non-horrible beer, but it does not connect with my soul.

Poured from 473mL can (thanks Cindy; bb 07/12/2022). Black with tan head. Loads of baker's chocolate, feint roast malt, thinner medium body, very feint hint of metallic notes, a bit artificial. Chocolate forwardness is okay but needs more body.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of grainy wheat malt, orange, pear, apple, pineapple and herbal hops. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy wheat malt, tangerine, pineapple, mango, peach and light piney hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, but with all those hops I was hoping for a bigger kick.

473ml can. Pours a hazy orange gold with a ton of floating particles and a medium, frothy, short lived, off-white head that laces. Sweet fruity aroma of grainy wheat malt, apricot, orange, pineapple, papaya and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy wheat malt, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, lemon and pine needles in a dry, slightly tart finish. Medium body with a slick texture and average carbonation. Not bad.

Tasty and fun stuff.

Sweet flavour of bready wheat malt, marshmallow, lactose, grapefruit, mango, vanilla and light grassy hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a sticky, oily texture and soft carbonation. Interesting concept, but a bit too sweet for me.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a small, foamy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of bready wheat malt, coconut, pineapple, lemon and floral hops. Sweet flavour of grainy wheat malt, coconut, tangerine, pineapple and floral hops in a sweet finish. Medium body with a sticky, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Abv is well hidden and I think they achieved what they were going for here, but the coconut is overpowering. Too sweet for me to have more than one.

Can at Den England Pub, Kidding. Pours cloudy straw with huge white head. Aroma is malt, orange, mango, pineapple and finish is barn. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Body is oily with light carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of orange, mango, pineapple and hints of spruce. Appearance: +1 for the nice label

Golden with a large foamy white head that left good lacing. Bitter and tangy with cactus, grapefruit and coconut. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.
