Description
General guidance to members adding beers:-

Kernel beers are largely added as 'series' and the naming within the various series are for example ... 'Pale Ale - Hop(s)'. Capital letter on each hop, no commas.

Kernel beers are largely left unretired so don't tick the 'out of production' box unless it's a special/collaboration beer.

With all the various hop combinations it's not been unknown for a specific beer to re-appear again after an absence of 7 years.

The early beers named as 'sours' were brewed by kettle souring, as such these beers (typically 4% and below) are regarded by the brewer to be more akin to a Berliner Weisse stylistically and are therefore listed as such.

The brewery springs from the need to have more good beer. Beer deserving of a certain attention. Beer that forces you to confront and consider what you are drinking. Upfront hops, lingering bitternesses, warming alcohols, bodies of malt. Lengths and depths of flavour. We make Pale Ales, India Pale Ales and old school London Porters and Stouts towards these ends. Bottled alive, to give them time to grow.

Bottle from Raynville Superstore. It pours hazy bright orangey - yellow with a lasting fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, juicy, tropical, bright, papaya, mango salsa, apricot jam, tangerine, green, weedy, dank, sticky and sappy. The taste is initially it's firmly dry, pleasingly bitter, bitterness lingers throughout, green, weedy, sappy, resinous, pithy, zesty, bitter citrus peel, campari, grapefruit, papaya , mango salsa, pine needles, touch of rawness, peppery spice and a kick of alcohol booze with a drying, green/bitter finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Flavourful, punchy and also moreish. Really opened up as it warmed.

On cask at The Two Trees micropub in Watford, Herts. A very dark brown coloured pour with a medium bubbly beige/off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee taste, aroma is something similar. Works really well on cask, very drinkable indeed.

(Draft at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 17 Sep 2025) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, herbs, pine needles and resin. Hoppy taste with citrus, herbs, resin, pine needles, white bread and a generous citric/piney bitterness. Medium body, dry. Solid and well made pale ale, with a generous hop presence. Very nice.

2 bottles, one is a bit oxidated, the other better though (which I will review. It pours muddy orangey - gold with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is quite green, weedy, grassy, piney, ripe stone fruits, mango, apricot, persimmon and touch of bubblegum. The taste is firmly dry, rather bitter, green, touch raw, pine, peppery spice, weedy, tropical fruit vibes, papaya, waxy orange citrus, persimmon, mango, apricot and a nip of alcohol with a lingering bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Oxidised one is rawer/greener, pours deeper brown and lacks body.

500ml bottle. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of tropical fruit juice, white wine, gooseberry. Taste is juicy and tropical, guava, mango, gooseberry, white wine, grapefruit, herbal, dank, nice bitterness. Medium bodied.
Think I've mostly had Eggers Special in DIPAs so to have it in this more restrained Pale Ale was different, and it's really great.
