Sampled draft @ the brewery. A one-off abbey tripel brewed with no less than 3 different fruit teas and with a mildly funny name to boot. Clear orange golden with a small white head. Nose is overly spoiled yoghurt & yeast with BE esters. Taste is strangely sweet sugar, spoiled yeast, yoghurt, fizzy with little tea taste. Overall a strange brew that was lacking in tea. Too much of an overly sweet, spoiled taste & BE yeast overkill affair. Not a success but quaffable still.

Draft glass @ the brewery. Quite surprised to see ABC release a BA version of their Seefbier on pure oak it seems. I do wonder whether this beer was largely born out of a desire to experiment or to try to cash in on the current craft boom? Maybe a little bit of both. Pours very hazy almost strangely murky orange with a lacing white head. Nose is lots of overripe fermenting stone fruit with a heavy yoghurt & vinous quality to it. Taste is that same yoghurt, vinous, almost vaguely wine sour with fermenting fruit, lots of stone fruit running into that yoghurt & wine streak. Body is the same vinous murky yoghurt-esque affair. Quite puzzling overall nice but it doesn’t feel like this is how this beer was supposed to turn out. Overall it came across a strange mishap of sorts but a pleasurable accident. Odd and totally not what I expected but definitely pleasant to drink.

Another new beer by this Antwerp company, a hoppy lager, combining two trends in the modern beer world (the hop forward movement on the one hand and the renewed interest in lagers on the other hand); bottle from the Delhaize supermarket in Lokeren. Snow white, moussy, membrane-lacing, thick and frothy head, lightly hazy ‘metallic’ old gold robe with very pale orangey tinge and lively carbonation, shifting to an overall mistiness with sediment. Aroma of fresh bitter garden herbs and wild green hop bells, grapefruit peel, camomile, raw celery, white bread crust, wet grains, jute, dust, unripe banana. Vaguely sweetish onset, some green apple and unripe banana notes, fairly neutral otherwise with minerally, bit ‘souring’ and stinging carbonation; slick, slightly oily mouthfeel, smooth cereally malt body with ‘white-bready’ character, evolving quickly to a long, grassy, field-floral, dried kitchen herb-like hop bitterness, a bit grapefruity but primarily ‘green’ and not rising further to lush New World aromatics, but providing a long, rooty, quinine-like bitterness. I don’t see much reason to advertise this as a modern IPL, it lacks New World hop aromas for that, but I can see this function as a classic, hoppy, almost Central European style Pilsener, if a bit of a weird one. Not an unpleasant lager at all, as far as I’m concerned.

Draught beige head over deep dark chestnut coloured beer. Chocolate, bit ashy, but also amandine, marzipan, very perfumey malts used, bit roasted too. Diacetyl, marzipan, chocolate malts. Well-bodied, light alcoholwarmth. The sweet-perfumed character seems to be a constant for ABC beers - not to mention again diacetyl. Johan, make your beers drier - remember Duvel?

Draught Small white rim, orangeish low carbonated beer. Coriander, some toasted malts, rather neutral aroma. Perfumey, coriander, but also some caramel, and lightly coloured malts. Light body, some wheat-like slickness (but no wheatacidity whatsoever); very low carbonation. Again one with too much coriander. At least it's manageable, but certainly not great.

Draught Very persistent, lacey small white head over hazy orange-golden beer; Wood, sherrywood, even port, some malts and grains. Cherry flavour - and sherry. Again sweet malts, alcohol-seeped wood. Very slick to oily, hint at alcohol; medium bodied, very low carbonation. A very nice surprise. Seefbier itself is OK, but this is really good. Try to find it!

Draught Small but persistent off-white head over golden beer with Grünstich. Very malt nose, faintly spicy-citrussy. Diacetyl!! Not really much or overpowering, but all the same. Honey-ish, malty flavours. Quite slick, not more than medium bodied, low carbonation (as all beers on draught at the brewery tap). -1 for the diacetyl. Still, it's not a bad beer.

Good dense, just light yellowish head over well-carbonated pale yellow beer. Coriander whafting up upon opening, nothing else - awful. More coriander in the mouth, bit creamy, fake citrus. Very spritzy carbonation, creamy MF - more from the ground coriander, Light finish. This is a blame for the name of Antwerpen. Retried one day later draught at the brewery. Nose yields ginger, even more than the coriander, as well as some pale malts. Carbonation is low, light body. But it is drinkable, which is a big difference with the bottle first tried. POINTS ARE AN AVERAGE OF BOTH TASTINGS.

Sampled draft @ Modeste 2018. Near clear golden, soapy white. Nose is BE head, soap, esters, sweet spice. Taste is sweet soap, fizzy, BE sugar, dull sweet spice but nothing off or bad,… Soapy. Better than expect but yeah too easy for the masses I think.
