Moderate malts and wheat in thee aroma. Frothy, brown head. Some very marginal lacing and fair retention for a Shiner. Redish-brown in color. Taste is malty with a salty finish and a lot of copper-metallicyness in the finish. Not sure what that is from, but it is in the bottle as well as my glass, so it isn’t a contaminent I added. Otherwise the texture is dryish with, as usual, a bit too much fizzyness in the carbonation. So-so, although it is very sippable.

Wheat aroma backed by a hint of citrus; sort of dusty. Hazy pale golden color with a fizzy white head that left immediately. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. There are citrus tones along with wheat. It ends with a bit of citrus sour. Didn’t get banana. Didn’t get spice. That aside it’s a fairly decent drink. Heck, it’s closer to Wit than a Hefe.

Grassy hops with some sort of cereal malts. Pour yields a fizzy, off-white head that goes away completely in about 20 seconds. Body is a nice dark amber or copper. Tasted is decent, but very very very bland. Texture is dry and it is overcarbonated.

Light caramel aroma. Coppery amber color with a white head that rapidly flattened. Medium body with light, fizzy carbonation. Flavor is light caramel with some citrus/fruit hop. The finish is clean, and lightly bitter. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma of toasted caramel with some light hop. Near opaque brown/black color with a head that entirely disappeared in seconds. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor of roasted/toasted malt with balancing noble hop. Swarzbier it is. Not complicated, but tasty.

Aroma is roasted grain malts. Appearance is a dark brown beer with a creamy off-white head with decent lacing. Flavor is burnt malts, grassy hops, and some chewing tabacco. Its overcarbonated and has a very dry mouthfeel. I was looking forward to this as being the best of the Shiner’s, but was disapointed. If memory serves, I liked most of the other products of theirs much better than this.

Pale golden coloured body with a nice white head that dies quickly. Aroma of pale malt, some light low a.a. hops and a very mild coriander seed freshness. Light-bodied; Fresh pale taste of malt with the effervescent feeling of the bubbles coming strong. Slight cardboard and light hop flavour with some mild sweetness following soon behind. Aftertaste shows more of the same - no bitterness at all to speak of. Overall, not bad - a bit too mild for me, but probably better than Shiner Bock! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle in the Sheraton Bar in Oklahoma City, OK on 16-November-2005.

On tap at Ashford pub. Pours a very dark brown almost black color with a medium tan head. The aroma is a roasted malt and coffee. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a smoke flavor and black licorice. Enjoyed this black lager.
