Description
Old Spot Brewery was set up in 2005 at Manor Farm, in Station Road, and was named after an old farm sheep dog that used to live outside the brewery and lived to a happy old 21 years.

Pigs Ear. Clear brown beer. No head. Light dry palate. Tangy orange hop, no bitterness. Low carbonation. A little even minerally malt. Okay bitter but a bit flat.

Cask (gravity) @ 27th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2010, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, EnglandClear medium to dark amber color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, sugar, chlorine. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20101130]

Gravity cask at the Pig’s Ear. Hazy amber-brown pour with a bubbly, white head. Lightly toasted malt aroma, some sweet berries. Straightahead flavor, some lightly toasted malts, mild fruits, faint citrus and earth bitters. Light medium body with average carbonation. Toasty malty finish, some berries, light hops. Standartd, not bad.

Cask (GBBF 2010) - Dark brown with red tinges. Roasted aroma with coffee and roasted malt. Roasted taste with plain chocolate and coffee standing out. Enjoyable.

Cask@GBBF2010. Deep amber colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is fruits, wood, some mild roasted and smoked notes as well. Flavour is similar, but also has coffee, chocolate and some mild liquorice.

From cask. Pours murky brown with a lot of sediment and with a dusty tan head. Aroma is liqourice and spiced. Fruity hoppy. Bitter and dark roasted malty. Distinct hoppy into a dry and bitter finish. Ends one dry and fruity.

Cask-conditioned a the Bag O nails, Bristol 08/05/09. Golden with a slight white head. An unusual ginger beer in as much as the aroma and flavour was predominantly citrus hops, with a touch of ginger in the background. Drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 25/04/09. Pale gold in colour with a slight white head. Aroma of sweet malts, hay and a whiff of grassy hops. Sweet, cereal flavours balanced by a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Pitch black with a dense tan head; chocolate malt aroma; silky mouthfeel, dry and smoky with dark red fruits and dry chocolate finish. Excellent.
