Associated Venue: Manoir d'Apreval
Established in 1998
Victor Révillon, the great-grandfather of Agathe Letellier, came to settle at the end of the 19th century in this corner of green nature where the climate softened by the sea air was favorable to the cultivation of fruit trees and 'breeding. From there was born a mixed farming operation on the 40 hectares of the time. An explorer businessman, he left the operation to farmers.
Polyculture operations lasted until 1998, when, on the initiative of the third and fourth generations of the cider estate, “Manoir d'Apreval” was founded. 17 varieties of cider apple trees and 4 varieties of juice pear trees, representing 1,800 trees, were planted.

Sample at Spritmuseum. Pours clear golden with fizzy diminishing white head. Aroma is heavily towards manure with some apple and vanilla behind. Heavily tart barnyard taste with more red apple, vanilla and a bit of wood. Very earthy and barnyardy but there is something there beneath it. Not all bad.

2013er Bottle. Highly carbonated, round and slightly sourish. Quite watery body, fresh ripe apples, not much sweetness left. Easy to drink, mouldy, not much depth. The aftertaste is medium, ripe dry but a bit mouldy apples, juicy fresh but not too fruity. Still nice.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, technically no head. Aroma is wood, apples, mild yeast and some slight vanillaish notes. Flavour is very similar, but also has some wooden and quite tart notes. Refreshing!

Bottle tasted @ Jimmy43s. Wine glass. I may or may not have had their pommeau a few times before reviewing this one. :D
Slightly hazed, aged yellow body, made a touch darker by the room’s lighting.
Smell straight off is rough. Sulphor, stinky cheese, moldy hay/lawn trimmings, & all boldly so. Once all that airs out(or you take a long enough breath), you get some earthy caramelized & sharp apples, along with some mold/wood rot. Didn’t get a chance to check out the cork.
Taste is much better, but not amazing. Quick hitting acid & tarts, they soon die, leaving a delicate/soft apple sweetness & some green grapes skin tannins. Softly carbed & a touch slick. It sadly all dries out & disappears without much of a fight.
Lacked some structure, & the barnyard was way over the top imo. Hope they were just some old bottles.

Bottle 750ml. @ UK-SCO Tasting in Ulfborg.Clear medium yellow orange color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy apple, horse blanket, barnyard. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average to long duration, late finish is dry. Flavor is a bit funny first: stabel - barnyard, second: sweet, third: dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20110409]
