Description

Harar brewery is located in the lively city of Harar in Harari region. It is one of the only region in Ethiopia where the majority of its population lives in an urban area, with more than 100,000 population.

The brewery started operations in 1984 and currently has an annual technical production of 500,000 hecto liters with more than 200 employees.

Harar brewery is known for producing brands like Harar Beer, Harar Draught, Sofi, Buckler. These brands are of high quality brewed from 100% natural ingredients. The brewery has been awarded four times (2009/2012/2014/2017) the Ethiopian Quality Award.

--Bottled. -- Almost clear golden, fizzy head. Aroma of overripe fruit. Sweet with light body and clean mouthfeel, fizzy carbonation. Dusted fruit and maize. Very low bitterness.

30/11/2024. Bottle shared at Ulfborg tasting. Pours clear golden with a small off-white head. Aroma is swede, malt, stewed fruits. Very unappealing. It tasted better than its aroma fortunately.

14/1/2023. Bottle at the Haderslebener tasting. From Marek. Pours clear dark amber brown with a small short lasting bubbly off-white head. Aroma of malt, dark fruits, caramel, molasses, charcoal. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, touch of sour. Moderate body, oily, average carbonation.

Bottle @ Haderslebener beer tasting. Medium head with medium duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are caramel, toasted malt, hops, fruits and nuts. Light bitter and sweet finish.
