Description
The Blythe Brewery is a small brewery, based in the rural setting of Hill Ridware in Staffordshire, yet only 11 miles from the brewing mecca of Burton upon Trent. The business was started in 2002 by Rob Greenway following his early retirement from 3M. Rob had been producing his own homebrew ales and beers for many years and the early retirement gave him the opportunity to use his knowledge both as a chemist and as a homebrewer to take on the challenge of producing high-quality naturally produced ales and beers on a small commercial scale. All the ales and beers produced at Blythe are traditional cask or bottle-conditioned.

30/10/2021. Can shared with ITFCfan and ITFCDan. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours clear pale gold with a large frothy white head. Aroma is pithy, orange, citrus, husky, herbal, grass. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Moderate body, chalky texture, average carbonation. Drying bittersweet finish. Not bad.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - cloudy yellow to orange, big fluffy white head and fairly high carbonation. Nose - lemon, lime and brown bread. Taste - majorly dominated by lime this time, with brown bread just poking its head out. Palate - light bodied, zesty finish. Overall - just to dominated by an adjunct. The base beer is unrecognisable.

Taste - more of the same, zesty finish. Palate - light bodied, balanced bitterness. Overall - enjoyed this.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - another big C02 pop on opening and it seems slightly over carbonated as per the previous two I've tried from them. Golden and hazy with a big fluffy white head. Nose - lemon, muesli and biscuit. Taste - lemon and pith. Biscuity. Palate - light bodied and pretty bitter. Overall - ok.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - like the previous, there's a big CO2 pop. Then a lively big beige head. The body is deep brown to black and opaque. Nose - liquorice, molasses and blackcurrant. Taste - blackcurrant and liquorice with a backdrop of molasses and dark chocolate. Palate - close to medium bodied, light roasty finish. Overall - good beer.

Can from the brewery online shop. Appearance - big pop of CO2 on opening then a big lively head which eventually gives way somewhat to a hazy golden body. Nose - light orange, muesli and a bit grainy. Taste - yeah, very grainy unfortunately. Muesli again including hazelnut. Palate - light bodied and very malty middle and finish. Overall - so so.
