Bottle. Black with a skerrick of light tan head that lasts at the rim. Complex chocolate brioche, roast, spice, caramel aroma - the whisky broadens the aromas of the normal version rather than sticks out itself. Full bodied, lowish carbonation. Fruity chilies, chocolate warmth from the whisky but no overt alcohol. Heat from the chiles builds a little more than in the normal version. A little bitterness at the end. Powerful yet tastefully restrained.

Can. Dark brown, a fat coat of beige head. Dark and singed sugar aroma, some spices. Layers of malt, some stewed fruit but no real rumbling bottom end. Nice peppery spicy bitterness lifts the end. I guess this is a bigger version of their Scotch Ale, which I've tended to like rather than love.

Can. Unclear dark red brown with a cm of beige head that lasts well. Aroma of light bread, spices. Malty but dry with bread, a touch of chestnut before spicy bitterness.

Can. Unclear amber with a brief white head. Doughy aroma with cloves and coriander, some apricot. Cleaner and lighter on the palate than guessed with crackery dough, gentle citrus and spicy bitterness.

Can from the brewery. Seems to have been a club beer from some time ago. Peach with a fluffy white head. 3+ Aroma of dough, apricots, floral and spicy hops. Rather heavy with lots of apricot. Sweet before a bitter finish that's nicely spiced but not quite enough. A bit less body would have worked better, but still pretty good.

Tap at the brewery. Floral w slightly biscuit y dough. Malty but leanish with a proper transparent lager palate before floral and then peppery bitterness. Again, terrific in a style that usually does nothing for me (but not q as good as Long Live the King).
I'm starting to really fall for Australian beers. Thanks Steve S.

Can. Very dark brown with a quickly fading cm of light tan head. Aroma of spiced chocolate, bread, lurking roast. Light, smooth bodied with low carbonation. The roast impinges further into the chocolate and the finish has peppery bitterness. Nice low-key stout with the usual classy finish.

Can. 50th beer from Red Hill. Their normal wheat beer is great fresh and this is only a couple of weeks old. So high hopes even though it's not a favoured style of mine. Deep brown with a large beige head. A few clumps. Bready aroma with lots of clove, some mocha and banana behind. Less sweet than guessed with bread, mocha and roast. Not much banana (suits me) with cloves and pepper at the quite snappy end.
