(bottle, with thanks to quack-duck for the sample!) Hazy, orange to amber colour with a huge off-white foamy head. Sweet, moderately yeasty, but rather strong honey aroma with a restrained malt-character, plus a light touch of caramel and faint hoppy notes. Light-sweet flavour, thin bodied - where the h… are the 6% ABV?, smooth carbonation. Soft malty base, honey-ish fruity taste; medium-dry, malt-accented slim finish with light bittering notes. On par with the usual modern brewpub standards known from Germany. “Frischbier” is the right word as they state on their labels. Not moreish; I would order an ordinary Schützengarten brew instead, if asked for a second one.

(bottle, with special thanks to Stefan!) Hazy, copper colour with a short creamy, off-white layer. Sweet, moderately yeasty, toast-malty aroma with toffee and notes of chestnuts, plus a light hoppy touch. Sweet flavour, medium to light body on a smooth carbonation. Toasty, malt-accented taste with toffee and distinctive nutty notes; malty, sweet-ish finish with a tinge of herbal hops and a yeasty bitterness coming through. This one was vintage 2007. Last years Osterhäsli was a dark Bock.

(bottle, with thanks to quack-duck!) Very dark brown, almost black colour with a fluffy beige foamy head. Slightly sweet and sourish fusty nose of roasted malt with notes of caramel and dark chocolate. Sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly roasted malt-character with notes of chocolate and caramel; moderately dry and bitter finish with chocolate and a very subtle sourish fruitiness. Definitely not moreish. The label states that it is obergärig (top-fermented). Additional info from the homepage of the brewery says it is fermented with Kölsch-yeasts. My first “dark Kölsch” doesn´t work for me.

(bottle, with thanks to quack-duck!) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a medium-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet and slightly yeasty pale and cara-malty aroma with herbal, slightly grassy hops and a subtle fruity touch in the background. Sweet flavour, light bodied with a smooth carbonation. Yeasty, malty taste, slightly bready; slightly viscid, almost sticky, malt-accented and yeasty finish with a tinge of fruitiness (pears) and a very light bitter note. Has deficits in maturation and balance.

(bottle, 4,8% ABV, as Weizen Trumpf, with thanks to quack-duck!) Cloudy, orange colour with a dense foamy white head. Initially grassy aroma, something what I definitely not expect from a Hefeweizen (green-glass bottle effect). Furthermore it has the yeasty house character, plus notes of fruits (banana, pear) and clove and band aid phenols. Moderately sweet flavour, light bodied with a quite smooth carbonation for a Weizen. Yeasty, malty taste with a moderate wheat-character and notes of banana; medium, dry, light-sweet, slightly tart finish with a light clovy spice and some yeasty bitterness in the light fruity aftertaste. Not very balanced. All in all rather unconvincing.

Bottle. Slightly oxidized, plum aroma. Sweet, vinous flavour, some green fruit. Cookie spices. Surprising, but not bad.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Hazy golden, small head. Aroma of calvados with a hint of grapefruit. Sweet with some estery bubblegum, lots of peppery alcohol. It’s slim body makes it dangerously drinkable, and it finishes with rather low bitterness. This beer does not provide quite what I exepected from it, but instead I got something unusual and interesting. After some confusion I decided that I quite liked it.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Clear amber. Aroma of cinnamon and green apples. Sweet and caramelly with notes of menthe. Near no bitterness. An unusal, almost mead-like ale.

Bottled. Dark amber colour, small white head. Aroma is apples, sweetness some alcohol and malts. Some spices in it also. Flavour is apples, alcohol, slight cinnamon/juniper/ginger mix. Hides the 9.6% very well in the flavour.
