Description
Popihn was founded in 2017 by Arnaud Popihn in the French Vaumort region. Supported by head brewer Gunther Oltra, Popihn quickly became the most hyped brewery in France.

Arnaud renovated an old barn and installed brewing tanks: the brand and the workshop were born! He immediately associated with a friend they met in Paris and they decide to embark on the adventure together by making artisanal French beers in the Sens region, in the countryside and with the barley grown by his parents.

It is in this natural break that we find the Popihn brewery workshop, with the very latest brewing equipment. They readily admit to being influenced and inspired by the breweries of the United States and England.

Very aromatic although a little bitter IPAs which give pride of place to exotic fruits (lemon, guava, mango, grapefruit!) And sour drinks that are not very developed in France! This is their hallmark: originality and innovation, but each time with the highest quality! Their daring paid off: they are now key players in these “niche” markets!

Bottle at cgarvieuk's. Pours hazy yellow. Aroma is hot apple pie with vanilla custard, also passion fruit. Body is light, suuuper and tart, rather thin but not watery, intense texture and carbonation. Passion fruit indeed, also lemon zest. Good.

Persistent slow gusher. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Fluffy over carbonated palate. Light pale malts, mildly sweet. Piney citrus, slighty thin. Whisper of tropical fruits. Light finish. Doesn't taste infected but neither does it taste as good as other recent Popihn hoppy offerings.

27th May 2020 Can. As Cryo Citra, 8%. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, still carrying a good creamy sweetness. Hops bring crisp pine and the lightest and softest of skunk edges. A light but pleasing tangerine led citrus, light mango in there. Light piney finish. A solid and very drinkable Citra DIPA. Not convinced this batch of Citra is the best but you can't fault what Popihn have done with it.

6.8% in a bottle. Citra, Mosaic and Ekuanot hops. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, sweetish. Smooth piney hop kick off with a soft hop skunk. Ripe orange and tangerine citrus, whisper of very ripe yellow grapefruit. Light semi dry finish. Decent, could be stronger with a hop line up like that.

Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth light malts, light creamy sweetness. Smooth but medium strength hop skunk. Light pine. Good ripe citric peel. Very mild spicy slant on ripe tangerine. Little tangerine jam. Like Roses Tangerine Jam, not seen for donkeys! Trace of tropical fruits on the back end. No Rakau earthyness here, no loss on this occasion. Another impressive hoppy affair from Popihn. Wish we had a more consistent supply in which to indulge.

Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry, nice light fine minerally crispness. Thin but nicely sweet malts, thin malt cream. Smooth floral hop start, a little of that sweet Motueka floralness. Very mild hop spice. Light tangerine with a floral lime twist. Modest peel bitternes before a light crisp finish. Super duper, clean and light and drinkable and presents both hops pretty well.
