The beer pours slightly dark copper. Is this Ringwood, am I supposed to dislike this? Its a bit butterscotch and toffee, more so in the aroma. A bit spicy yeastiness. Eh, another Middle Ages beer.

@ Brazen Head on cask-pours a tan head that bubbles and hazy gold color. Aroma is grapefruit/lemon. Taste is grapefruit/lemon/pine hops, secondary medium malt, slightly thick mouthfeel, some woody. OK/mild carbonation.

Deep opaque black-brown body, thick dark tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and fruitskin, perhaps a touch of marshmallow. Rich. Strong cocoa body, burnt, charred roasted malts, and a touch of licorice. Light sweetness leads to a burnt leaf finish. Rather soft body with subtle heft. This reminds me a lot of Arcadia’s Imperial Stout, though a tad more bitter in the finish. A refreshing take on the style, and a solid beer.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of Kramer17801. Clear, amber golden with a tall, handsome and lively, beige head leaving some laces. Fresh, citrusy nose. Medium body, fruity accents and a very dry and astrigently, bitter finish. 280907

From 75 cL bottle, thanks to Storm. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Quite fruity aroma with a distinct grapefruit note. Very dry almost woody flavour which then turns to a quite fruity and almost citric fruity flavour. Finish is dry and citric. Too much dryness for my liking.

22 oz bottle from beastiefan2k. Year unknown. Pour is solid black with a firm 2 inch tan head. Aroma is roasty malt, coffee and hop bitterness. Taste is the coffee roasted malt, some licorice in the middle and a smoky hop bitterness to the finish. Initially, a touch thin on the palate, though this picked up / improved as the beer warmed to room temperature. Overall, very nice IS. The coffee roastiness really hangs around a long time.

Poured a deep black with a foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor was sweet with chocolate and dark cherries, finish was heavy and oily. I expect more complexity out of an imperial stout, but on it’s own it was nice to drink.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a dark chestnut color with a very small tan head. The aroma was an odd with notes of caramel and toffee. The flavor was very bitter, tangy caramel with an odd yet undesirably off flavor and a hint of smoke. The beer was rather flat. Eh.

Small white head. Orangey body. Tropical fruit, citrus, and malts aroma with a sharpish herbal background. Dry, sharpish herbal citric taste, very clean. Quite edgy. Dry herbal grainy aftertaste. Very nice! (0.66l bottle at glouglouburp’s.)
