Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks YK23. As "Pagoa Basque Beer Stout Beltza". Dark brown with a beige head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, a bit of chocolate-chips cookies, a bit of nuts and light fruitiness. Sweetish roasty flavor with milk chocolate, light fruitiness and a dry finish. Light to medium-bodied. Not bad.

Bottle 33cl. Murky yellow with white head. Aroma to fresh malt and a few herbal. Appearance could be better for an unfiltered beer; any way, it’s good to see the yeast floating in the beer. Taste yeasty with oleic final, light hopped.

Bottle from Solbes store San Sebastian, Basque Country, Northern Spain 04.07.11 consumed at campsite Camping Igueldo, outside Frank (camper) 04.07.11 Pours very dark brown with a light beige rim of bubbles, there is a hint of dark red in the appearance. Fruity with a light sourness, bit tangy. Another Basque beer from Pagoa that is ok but nothing better than ok. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Bottle from Solbes store San Sebastian, Basque Country, Northern Spain 04.07.11 consumed at campsite Camping Igueldo, outside Frank (camper) 04.07.11 Pours mid amber, I don’t see a lot of reddiness here, off-white head completing the picture. Tangy in the mouth with a light bitterness, some maltiness, touch of brine, bit of caramel. Ok but beginning to feel just a touch disappointed with these Pagoa Basque beers. A6 A3T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Bottle from Solbes store San Sebastian, Basque Country, Northern Spain 04.07.11 consumed at campsite Camping Igueldo, outside Frank (camper) 04.07.11 Pours light gold with barely any head save for a scattering of bubbles around the edges. Touch of light fruitiness on nose, malt and minerally in the mouth. Clean quite crisp and soft. Uncomplicated with a little bitterness, touch of metallic, its ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

lot# 309, bottle in Basque, Spain. pours clear golden, white head. aroma is sweet, bready with notes of nuts. flavors, rather enjoyable pilsener with a more prominent malty profile. Nice bready and nutty palate that hides the light touch of hop bitterness and citrus that are very subdued. Some sweet brown sugar? and grainy, finish keeps a nice tangy/citrus note. This lot had some age on it and possibly had lost some of its hop.
