Description
Donnington still produces its beers by much the same recipe that has always been used. Spring water (or in brewing terms 'liquor') is drawn from the spring beside the mill pond and used as the main ingredient along with barley, malt and hops.
Until the mid 1960s, the barley was grown on the local estate but today it's brought as malt from Norfolk. The hops are from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The original mill is still used in the brewing process and the mill wheel drives some of the machinery used by the brewery.

Cask half at Dorchester Beerex 2024. Pours clear golden amber with beige foam. Aroma: light sweet malts, caramel, light dried fruits. Taste: light to moderate sweet & light bitter, watery. Light body with soft carbonation. Pretty dull, but I've ticked another new brewery.

500ml bottle, bought by Soph at Co-Op, drunk by me on the Platinum Jubilee Weekend. Clear deep copper pour, good white head. Aroma of lightly stewed fruity amber malt. Continues to taste, light bitterness on the close. Standard ruby bitter really, quite light bodied with a gentle sweetness.
