On tap at The Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Hazy gold colour lasting white head. Hoppy session ipa. Good balance though some sweetness and not too harsh. Some orange citrus fruit aroma I can't place. Some slight herb citrus fruit flavour. Some bitterness on the finish. . Pretty tasty. Good condition and temperature.

Gott

Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Porter with tightly membranous-lacing, dense, creamy, thick, tan head and jet black colour. Aroma of lots of unsugared black chocolate, cold black coffee and coffee liqueur, leather, wet toast, roasted walnuts, burnt tree branches or even charcoal, hard caramel candy, bayleaf, touches of dry earth, nutmeg, chicory, cigar ashes, beef stock cubes. Restrainedly sweetish onset with a cured meat-like umami edge, sourish undercurrent, fizzy carb, thick toasted nut- and bitter chocolate-like malt body developing more coffee-like roasted bitterness in the end, even becoming a tad ashy but nevertheless remaining pleasantly rounded and nutty with a toffee note persisting till the end; spicy hop note gives a punch at the back, accentuated the roasted bitterness. Clean in esteriness and in that sense very un-Belgian, this is surprisingly good, even if its roasted character makes it qualify as a dry stout rather than a porter – but then, both ‘genres’ are inseparable even historically so I won’t let that influence my rating here.
