Clear brown beer, short lived bubbly pale tan head. Thin palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. A pretty respectable chocolate vibe from the very thin dark malts, a little dark chocolate fudge. Whisper of cherry, walked through on stilts. A generic fruity ripeness on the back end. No idea why I bought this. 4.0 stouts are really not my bag because they are nearly always thin and boring. This one at least has a decent chocolate offering. Make this an Impy and I would gladly come back.

Bottle at home, can't recall where from, 25/02/21. Hazed orange with a good sized just off white cap. Nose is dusty hops, green apple, lemon tinged straw, grass, grains, cobwebs. Taste comprises lemon zest, light base funk, trace of minerality, hay bale, grains, white grape must. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, semi drying close spiked with dusty hop bitterness and a sour edge. Decent easy drinking sour.

Bottle from Redchurch Brewery (online shop). A clear golden/straw coloured pour with no head. Vague, fruity, grassy aroma and taste. This was so bland that I poured most of it away. Redchurch can do better than this surely?

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the brewery taproom way back when they were still in Bethnal Green. Pours clear yellow-gold with a fading, white head. Drinkable enough, lightly sweet, with soft acidity, ripening lemon, some salty bite, nips of wheat. Light bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Fairly clean finish, more mild lemony tartness, refreshing salty notes. Drinks fine overall.

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured an unclear golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, a bit astringent. Taste is berry, fruity, some light bitterness, piney, malts.
