Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is weak stale malt with some hoppy citrus notes. The flavour is medium bitter with a watery hop bitter fruity palate. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Nice enough, but one for the summer.

Fra fat på The Horseshoeni Gibraltar: et cremeskum som varer til bunns og vel så det. Fruktig, rik smak i en fløyelsmyk innpakning. Dette er lett&lekkert.

500ml bottle at home. Pours like a cider! Gold, with no head and big bubbles. Lemon, lime and cereal aromas. Buttery lemon taste, more lime sharpness. Thin and light. Not getting much new world hops, nor the clove from the yeast as promised, but then who ever believes what’s on the label? Especially given the provenance... It was ok.

Draught at Manor House Hotel, Newlands Corner, Surrey. Pale amber, creamy head. Fruity nose with old butter and boiled vegetables. Sweet with light body and creamy mouthfeel. Apply fruit, rotting vegeatbles and hay. Low-medium bitterness.

50cl bottle from Tesco. Another innocuous golden ale - nothing wrong with it - but nothing that leaps out and says "drink me" - good for a sunny afternoon in the garden. You can guess the rest - golden amber, touch of citrus, crisp body.

Tall 500ml brown bottle: BBD 17 May 2014, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 27 Aug 2013. As it’s name might suggest the beer has a golden hue to it’s body, bright and clear in the glass, on top a full and fairly deep white crown. Mildly citrus in the nose and taste, a good enough blend of other hop and malt flavours join together nicely to give a well balanced, if slightly bland brew. Not enough of anything to test your taste buds, but not bad in any way either, just another British golden bitter without much flavour.

Medium beige lasting head. Clear deep dark red body. Light milky caramelly notes. Dry-sweet milky caramelly taste with roasty wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, flat mouthfeel. Dryish dusty roasty aftertaste with caramelly wooden notes. Ok, but a bit rough and low in flavour. (0.568l cask at The Golden Lion, Whitby.)

Cask at The Wrens, Leeds. Barman tells me this is now made in Warrington. Clear amber pour with a good white head. Soft malt aromas, the merest hint of hop bitterness. A bit watery, but nice to have tried again. It’d been a few years.
