On tap @ Moulin. Pours a colour with a red hue and a thin crema head. The nose has demerara sugar and an earthy note. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich tangy texwture and a bitter finish. Overall, good example of a strong British ale.

On tap at Moulin. Pours cola with a red hue and a nicely proportioned head. The nose has chocolate and cream. The taste has chocolate biscuits. The palate is medium bodied with a light creamy finish and a dry bitter malt finish. Overall, a good ale - maybe a stout rather than a bitter.

Rerate at the Perth Arms, Dunkeld, a bit more zesty this time. Previous rating 2.7. On tap @ Moulin. Pour amber with a thin head. The nose has a faint note of honey and raisins. The taste has more honey and raisins with a big malt finish. The palate is medium to full bodied with a tangy texture and some bitterness on the end, though still a bit cloying. Overall, needs more fresh hoppiness, though this kind of ale does seem to suit the rich cuisine of the pub.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, courtesy of rosenbergh, 20120310) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts and toffee. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, toffee, yeast, hint of grass and low bitterness. Thin aftertaste with malts and bitterness. A below average bitter.

Cask @ Old Mill, Brodie. Dark brown bitter with rich off white creamy head. Aroma - light roast malt. Taste - some dark malt, slight sweetness with gentle bitter hops initially, then flavour goes flat. Slight hint of butter. Dull, malty finish. Not impressed with this beer - rather boring.

Bottled @ Dutch "the Good, the Bad & the Ugly" tasting. Clear brown color, short head. Bit malty aroma, some toffee, slight flowery hops. Caramel and toffee in taste. Reasonable bitter.

Cask at Moulin Inn, Pitlochry, Scotland. Clear deep reddish brown colour, thin white head. Aroma of buttery malts, coffee and cream, light fruity. Flavour is dark fruits, buttery malts, cream, light coffee, caramel, light bitter buttery roasted finish. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel, no carbonation. Nice.
