Description
The Belle-Vue brewery is a story of more than 100 years of craftsmanship. Philémon Vanden Stock started as a so-called ''gueuze steker'' as early as 1913: he buys lambic from local brewers and uses it to create "Gueuze". In 1927 he took over the Belle-Vue café in Anderlecht, which was also the start of the Belle-Vue brand. When he took over the Vos Kina brewery in Molenbeek in 1943, he changed its name to the "Belle-Vue" brewery. He transforms from a gueuze steker into brewer. Under the leadership of son Constant Vanden Stock, the brewery grows strongly, partly through numerous acquisitions in the 50s, 60s and 70s. In 1975, the brewery moves into the old site of the Timmermans brewery in Zuun (Sint-Pieters-Leeuw). Belle-Vue has been part of AB InBev since 1981. Within AB InBev, the Belle-Vue brewery also functions as a pilot brewery and plays an important role in the Belgian network.

25 cl bottle as Becasse Kriek. Clear burgundy color, bubbly pink head. Smell of cherry. Flavor of cherries, elderberry, a lemony sourness, solid malt backing. Sticky, yet dry, sour finish with some sugars and maybe a yeast note. I'm not a fan of the style but surprisingly solid.

It's fine but still not a huge fan of the Kriek style. Cough syrup.

Very accessible version of the style. Rare example of matching glass. With Alsatian cheese, not Belgian.

0,25l bottle at home. 5,2%. Belle-Vue Kriek PH Vandenstock. BB 1989. brown clear color, small off white head. smells cherry, honey, mead, spices, peppery. nice smell. medium body, no carbonation. tastes of cherry juice, metallic, peppery, some honey, some mead, marzipan, rusty, bit parfumy. finishes sweet with notes of cherries, honey and some rusty notes. interesting, cherry and honey / mead notes are pretty nice, but the metallic notes that also come through are pretty distracting.

250 ml bottle, bb 89. Amber, clear body, without head. Aroma is very oxidized, like sherry, overripe fruits, wood, honey. Tastes similar, with a Samos-like impression. Medium, oily mouthfeel, with no carbonation. Finishes sweet, medium dry, with honey, overripe fruits, sherry. Interesting. A framboise or beer character is completely gone, tastes like a sweet dessert wine. Pleasant to drink though and an interesting experience. Score: 7 / 4 / 7 / 3 / 14

30 cl bottle as 'Belle-Vue Selection Lambic Gueuze 2019', poured into a Flute. Slightly hazy golden amber colour with a thin white head. Tart fruity aroma with lemons, vinegar, green apples and wooden notes. Taste is sour. Fine, not a complex Gueuze.
