Description
We are an East Vancouver craft brewery inspired by tradition and creativity, and go beyond the ordinary to celebrate that which is strange* and extraordinary. The beer we make is influenced both by old world traditions and West coast ingenuity as well as by seasonal ingredients. Our barrel programme promises unique aged beers, and we have a bit of a thing for sour beer.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has crisp citrus hops and dry crackery malt in good balance. Flavour is dry and crisp, with a dry, floral and citrusy hop character, backed with dry crackery malt. Reasonably hopped for pale, ending crisp. Simple, clean, drinkable. Solid.

Canned, shared with Hrvoje. Clear golden with medium white head. Malty, grainy, some lemon, sweetish, touch of bitterness in finish.

On tap at Darby's. Pours a hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma is fairly pleasant, a bit rustic, some funk, a bit phenolic. Flavour has some dirty funk, but generally too phenolic. Nice idea, not well executed.

473 ml can. Pours a bright gold color with moderate head. Aromas of candied citrus, light pine, light pineapple and biscuity malts. Flavors follow same though a bit more malty and with some grass in the finish. Clean

On tap at Darby’s, pours a hazy pale golden with a medium white head. Aroma has some light phenolic notes, musty earthiness, and gentle leathery funk. Flavour is unfortunately a phenol bomb—like Cool Ship 1. There’s some nice funk to this, but not enough to drown out the phenols. Less complex than the first one too, so unfortunately this is a big miss.

Opaque, fruity, some stone fruit, moderate bitterness, decent. I probably overrated it slightly since it was a hot day and a long bike ride.

Hazy, pale, not much head. Brett up front, some phenols, the paint thinner or cleaner varietal. Medium body. Light bitterness of aged hop…basically they aimed for lambic, but the wild ferment went in that phenolic direction and they couldn’t blend their way out of it. Everything else works, though.

355mL can, pours a hazy dull blonde with a small white head. Aroma has some unfermented wort, straw, and a touch of hoppy bitterness. Flavour is much the same, with unfermented wort, straw, dull hops, and murky bready malt. Passable, but too much unfermented wort character and not bitter enough. Meh.

Hazy but dull. Medium head. Bright fruity aroma, sort of a drier character with thin malts. The hops aren’t as bright on the palate as they are on the nose.

Pours quite pale, dull. Somewhat worty and with a light hop character. Touch of bitterness. Passable, but certainly not upper tier for non-alcoholic pils.
