Aromas of orange marmalade, biscuit, pine and rye. Some citrus in the mouth, and the rye gives a really nice aftertaste.

Schooner on tap at The Grain Store, Newcastle. Oh, it's black, like really really black. Solid head of crema on top. Looks great. Nose of cocoa, coffee, anise. Quite sweet, medium body. Chocolate and liquorice present. Very nice stout, miles ahead of more obvious choices.

Widgetless nitro can. Very dark red with a light tan head. Brusque roasty aroma with some toffee. Low bubbles - much less nitro than the 2025 version of Us. Dry & roasty, less singed toffee than suggested by the aroma. Some coffee. Drier than London Black. Lacks the softness of Guinness draught. Pretty good.

Can. Almost clear amber with a 3/2cm off white head. 6+ Shyish aroma of floaty citrus (grapefruit, kumquat), breadcrust, pine, hints of tropical fruit. A lick of caramel but not all that sweet. Mostly tenor register citrus with building pine and firm bitterness. Good but did not pop as much as their best IPAs.

Can. Cloudy amber with a large cream head.Toasty aroma with sultanas, prunes, dried banana, pepper. Rich and bready with caramelised fruit, light spices. A distinct spicy hop bitterness at the end which is maybe a little overdone. A slight, appropriate warmth. Very nice.

Can. Clear deep reddish amber with a cm of pale beige head. Aroma of fruit cake and spices before some toffee emerges. Malty and quite sweet with toffee more to the fore in the taste but it dries out as dried fruit and then spices come to the fore before gripping bitterness. Exceeded my expectations.

Amber, some haze. The aroma comes across as a flabby malt and orangey, gloppy hop expression, with a lot of alcohol. Sticky, boozy, the hop is a mess, and the base malt is also a mess. And everything is a mess, and I feel bad for the El Dorado for being included in this. A lot of bad elements that don't come together.
