Tap at the Osaka Brewpub. The aroma is malt, citrus fruits, big woody hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter, with a crisp, fresh, fruity, dry pepper spice palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at the Osaka Brewpub. Poured a clear red burgundy colour with a few bubbles. The aroma is massive pomegranate. Not much else really. The flavour is moderate sweet with a crisp, fresh tart pomegranate palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Pomegranate juice with alcohol.

Tap at the Osaka Brewpub. Poured a slightly hazy dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white day. The aroma is roasty malt, liqouirce, chocolate, mint. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, roasty, mint, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. After Eight in a glass. Sweet, but not too sweet.

Tap at Depaas, Osaka. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is grainy malt, big pineapple. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, with a light, crisp, big juicy citrus fruit, yeasty, light floral hop palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, light, slightly fruity, light pepper spice, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Tap at Depaas, Osaka. Poured a slightly hazy brown colour with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is light malt, Coca Cola, light spices. The flavour is light bitter sweet, with a crisp, grainy, light liquorice, aniseed, spicy palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Completely off the wall but not so bad. Quite drinkable at the end of the day.

Tap at the brew pub. A pale ale with jasmine tea in it. Cloudy golden orange with a fine, thick head. Oranges, biscuits, honey, peaches, and jasmine in the nose. Rich and malty, more like an yeasty and bready English golden ale, nicely fruity and estery with jasmine. Well done. The finish was just a touch rough but I quite liked this.

Tap at the brew pub. A kettle sour with ume plums in it. Hazy pale gold with lace. Pretty. Nice. Slightly lactic nose, lemony, ume. A bit of weird funk but not much. Flavor is nicely tart and lemony with understated ume. Finishes tart and flowery, with spicy yeast. Crisp and light. Interesting stuff. Somewhat like a fruited champagne.

Tap at the brew pub. Orange-brown color, clear, with a fine head. Very spicy nose, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie-like spices, with some chocolate notes and very light roast. Slightly cola-like. Flavor is on the sweet side and very spicy. Body somewhat thing. This is not a style I like very much, but I was surprised at how clean the beer was. It wasn't a case of trying to hide flaws with spices.

Their first batch was released the week before I went. Taster (480 yen) at the brewpub. Clear amber copper with minimal head. It has a herbal sharply minty sweet fruit aroma (evoking some weird purple gum I used to get at Halloween). Medium to full bodied with an earthy herbal and quite bitter flavor. They didntbskimp on hops I’d say. It’s an old school west coast IPA. Not bad and fairly clean for a first attempt. Made with nugget and cascade according to the brewer who was making a jasmine beer when I went.
