Bottle at BBT 06/2024. Malty aroma and taste, pear, green apple, medium bitter, light to medium sweet. Medium to full body, malty fruity bitter sweet dry finish. Ok.

Nara Deep Breath Cold IPA 6% 36 IBU Crystal clear gold with thick white foam. It’s got a resinous stone fruit aroma, medium to full body and is bone dry. The taste starts off stone fruit, some dank resinous bitter pine then a somewhat sweet tropical fruit in the aftertaste. I am not sold on cold IPA as a style (I prefer the very similar IPL) but this one is damn good, definitely one of the best I’ve had. Bought at Isetan, collaboration with Satsuki Mishima.

0,3l on tap @ Craft House Kyoto. Pours hazy orange with a low head. Aroma is sweet fruity malts. Flavor is sweet fruity malts with some hops. Good.

Tap at KBL. Hazy bright gold with lace. Bready nose of lime, lactic acid, pineapple. Tart and tangy, lemon and lime, prickly. Nice one.

Gotta have a Nara beer when in Nara! Nara x Dandelion Chocolate Matchstick Chocolate Beer w/chili 4.5% 14 IBU An amber brown pour with thick beige foam with great staying power and a super soft silky body which is to be expended from a nitro beer. The aroma starts off with caramel like a brown ale then gives cocoa powder before some chili heat comes in. The taste is more chocolatey but it definitely feels more like a brown ale with chili than a chocolate beer. I kind of wish the base beer was a stout.

Nara Brewing Malko Italian Pilsner 5% 15 IBU Incredibly pale straw gold with ultra-fizzy white foam which vanished as fast as it formed. The aroma is soft dusty Crackery Pilsner malts with a spicy sweet herbal/almost floral scent. Medium to light bodied and semi-crisp with a lingering herbal bitterness. Soft approachable lager.

Tap at Komachi. Clear, pale gold with a medium head. Nice floral hop nose, as expected in the style, herbal, fruity, good Noble hops, with a very light malt background. Flavor is floral hops again, malt is very light and inconspicuous. Body is light, mild bitterness. The dry hopping is nice but I wish the malt and overall attack were stronger.
