Nara Brewing Malko Italian Pilsner 5% 15 IBU Incredibly pale straw gold with ultra-fizzy white foam which vanished as fast as it formed. The aroma is soft dusty Crackery Pilsner malts with a spicy sweet herbal/almost floral scent. Medium to light bodied and semi-crisp with a lingering herbal bitterness. Original review text: I snagged the last can of this and I’m glad as it’s going down a treat! Nara x Kumori Tokidoki Abarotz Malko Pilsner 5% 16 IBU Not sure what Kumori Tokidoki Abarotz is. This is a deep gold with fluffy white foam and a fresh minty herbal aroma. Medium bodied with a bite of a scratchy biting carbonation. The saphir hop gives a minty herbal sweet but slightly fruity flavor. This makes it a modern Pilsner to me but it’s really damn good. Superbly balanced and enjoyable.

Tap at Komachi. Clear, pale gold with a medium head. Nice floral hop nose, as expected in the style, herbal, fruity, good Noble hops, with a very light malt background. Flavor is floral hops again, malt is very light and inconspicuous. Body is light, mild bitterness. The dry hopping is nice but I wish the malt and overall attack were stronger.

750 ml bottle, 3-4 years old. Shiny black with a tall, tan head. Nose is chocolate, grapes, berries, low level of roasted malt. Sweet up front, fruity, dark chocolate, vanilla, roasty finish. A bit too sweet, but nicely fruity and decent.

Apparently Syd Mead is a kind of illustrator and futurist which I guess explains the cool label… Nara x Syd Mead Arrival American IPA 5.5% 35 IBU It is a nice looking matte gold color with thick dense long lasting white foam and a pungeant citrus & mosaic hop bouquet. Sharp citrus and sweet herbal pine. Medium bodied with slight raspy carbonation. It has a bit of a tangy sharp citrus before a woodsy bitterness comes in. Flavorful and interesting IPA, well worth trying out.

I’m pretty sure this was part of an Aussie collaboration event: Nara x Hop Nation Yūgen 5.5% Chocolate coffee milk stout 9 IBU Post sento beer! Deep black with a creamy tan head of foam. Lush full velvety body. The nitro shines on this. The aroma is soft chocolate stout at first but then the coffee comes to the fore as it warms up. The taste is a bitter herbal coffee then sweet roasty stout. Seriously wonderful soft body. I’m glad I got to try this.
