Description
Yvan DE BAETS and Bernard LEBOUCQ meet each other in 2002, during the second edition of the Zinnekparade. Bernard had created the now famous ZINNEBIR for this unique Brussels event. However, it took another five years for BRASSERIE DE LA SENNE to settle effectively in the capital. In the meantime, the brewing activities were continued at friendly breweries. This bohemian existence came to an end on December 22, 2010, the date of the very first 100% Brussels brew!

Bottled 13JUL22, drunk 6/8/25.
Clear and bright gold-brass. Sizeable, well-retained, white head.
This is like perfectly developed and in the sweet spot. Luscious Orval-like yeast, though less bandaid than some of the best Orval noses I've smelled. No over-developed notes yet, and a biscuity and rustic, lightly bready spelt/malt character to gently balance. Soft funk, black pepper, honey and floral notes linger.
Bright and clean with dainty Brett done perfectly. Peppery and gently acidic with nothing overdeveloped and an excellent, deeply malty texture that shows good attenuation. Balanced and bright with luscious Brett for days.

Large sample from tap in the Admiral Benbow, Shrewsbury on 7th June 2025. Amber body, off white head. Too sour for me, still struggle with Lambic beers, I've tried to embrace them but can't. Scored objectively.

The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, grassy bitterness, fragrant, floral, daisies, peppery spice, biscuit, cereal, lemon peel, touch of apricot, biscuit and crackery malt. Finish is grassy and fragrant. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Plenty flavourful for 4%. Moreish and satisfying.
