Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Mostly clear straw color with a bit of haze and a small white head. Lemon on the nose is prominent with a touch of banana and clove. Taste has lemon, yeast and a bit of banana as well. Not overly sweet. Slight sour finish. Not exactly what I’m looking for in a weizen. Not bad, but kind of off for the style.

Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Cloudy straw with a small white head. Aromas of peach, yeast and grain. Soft carbonation with a slightly watery mouthfeel. The peach stands out pretty clear on the palate. Quite one dimensional.

Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Amber color with a small off-white head that dissipated and left a small ring around the cup. Nice chocolate malt aromas with some prune currant in the nose. Well-balanced with the same flavors as above. Better than expected. Smooth finish.

Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Golden pour with a small white head. Nice grassy aromas with some grain and hops. Taste is similar but a little boring. Kind of grainy. Crisp and refreshing with a dry finish.

Drove past the Michinoku Fukushima Brewery today for a few times, so finally got this 330 ml bottle from Fukushima JR station. They only had Pilsner and Weizen, nothing else. Pours watery-pale, nice head that comes down a bit but stays long. A bit too clear for a good weizen, I think. Aroma is sweet-yeasty, has bananas and nice esters. Taste is light, watery, easygoing and not too exciting. Some sourness at the end, Not a bad beer but missing the wheat body I like in case of weizens.

On tap at CBB Bud. A yeasty peach aroma, it smells a bit green/young. Light to thin bodied with a the taste is remarkably tart peach/cherry but with some cardboard & candyish sweetness. My overall impression, is it is kind of amateurish, while it doesn’t have any overt production faults it just doesn’t come together so well. Just muddled. ---- Jan. 2018 shared bottle ---- A cloudy gold that looks like peach juice. A misty peach, medium but rough bodied. Cardboard and stale bread plus peach. Not terrible but not so hot. Rating is still similar to on tap maybe 2 year ago: So 3-4 at 6 t 5 p 3 o 10

330 ml bottle from AEON Liquors @ Jiyugaoka. Pours beautifully golden, small white head that is gone fast. Leaves nice lacing on the bottle. Aroma is malty, full of bread and with some sour notes. Sour plums? Taste is also quite strong at first, carbonation cleaning the palate. Then it transfers into malty bread taste, bread crumbs, and finishes with a snappy bitter aftertaste. Very good for a pilsner - a proper one, not too watery but still refreshing!

Draught at 1020. Pretty amber-red color with a low head. Malty caramel nose, with grassy, earthy hops. Caramel flavor, with huge hop bitterness. Tongue numbing, actually, and a bit over the top, but interesting.

Draught at JCBF. Strange orange-red color with lace. Fruity, berry aroma. Tangy fruit flavor with a bit of malt. Definitely a fruit beer all over, though not overly sweet and therefore a success, though not really up my alley as the beer character is a bit minimal.
