Description
Exit Brewing fell from the minds of two Melbournians, who decided to exit their corporate I.T. jobs and follow their passion for brewing beer. Now the family-owned business is led by founder and brewer, Grum Knight, and offers an iconic core range that keeps true to the founding principles of quality and honesty. Our story began with the release of a Saison farmhouse ale back in 2014. Since then, we have added a few more of our favourite styles including a bold yet balanced Pale Ale, the complex American-style AIBA trophy winning Amber Ale, the rich smooth AIBA trophy winning Milk Stout and a hoppy West Coast-style IPA. These year-round releases are complemented by our limited release program that pays homage to our original numbered batches. We’re a fully independent brewery located in Melbourne’s South East, with a small but mighty team of incredible people who continually strive to keep ‘craft’ at the heart of what we do.

(Can) Pours black with small loose tan head. Good aroma - coffee, chocolate, raisins, maybe hints of smoke and prunes. Thick, oily, sticky with fine soft carbonation. Excellent mouthfeel. Taste is rich and dark. There’s dark toffee sweetness and some significant bitterness to balance. There’s some alcohol burn. There’s plenty of chocolate and coffee. Very nice.

On tap at The Catfish, Melbourne. Hazy yellow with a small white head. Tart with apricot, some funk and light bread. The body was light. A decent one.

Pours straw with a large quickly fading head.Nose shows nectarine, peach, pear, apple, and light malt with a hint of a cookie dough-like notes.Flavours include more nectarine and peach, a faint white wine note, and very subtle clean malt, letting the reasonably aggressive bitterness roll through uncontested.

Can. Cloudy orange with a wisp of a white head. Aroma of funky crackers, stone fruit, lemon, a little boot polish. I wouldn't have guessed actual fruit (not a complaint). Light bodied, lowish carbonation. A bit lacto slippery. Fruity and a bit tart, some bracken. Not terribly complex but nicely balanced. Really refreshing after a very hot day.

Can. Hazy and gold. Mango and orange nose. Not a total juice bomb however with some malts present alongside an almost piney happiness. One of the better local ones.

Can. Opaque brownish orange with a cm of white head that's soon less than coat. 3- Big ripe tropical fruit aroma - mainly pulpy mango but also guava, oranges - with some chewed crackers and grass. I don't love it but then I'm not a huge mango fan. If the aroma is dominated by fruit, the beer really fights back on the palate with surprisingly clean pale malt and spicy as well as grassy notes leading towards a finish that's fairly bitter as well as slightly astringent. _Just_ avoids that throat burn that some of these have. Bold, interesting.

On tap. Deep amber. Restrained nose with caramel most identifiable. No such subtlety in mouth. Loads of resiny goodness with caramel base. Lovely lingering bitterness and almost oily mouthfeel. Lush.

Bottle. Deep amber with a beige head that's soon gone. Rich with layers of bread and crusty malt, dried fruit, perhaps a little more peat than I think really fits. Firm bitterness. A fine drop.

Can. Hazy golden. Citrus nose. Usual juicy mouthfeel. Manged to be all citrussy but with some welcome real bitterness to bring this back into the beer world in a very good way.
