From a 330ml can on 31/7/2017. Pours a slightly cloudy mediu golden with a small head.The nose features fruity hops and light caramel. Take a sip and you get a satisfying combo of caramel and biscuit malt, and citrus, stone and tropical fruit (mandarin, peach, pineapple and mango). The hops are pretty firm and quite resiny. The texture is quite thick and syrupy, and the carbonation is quite soft, Has more than a bit of Pirate Life IIPA to it, which is a very good thing. All up, a lovely, satisfying, quite full on double IPA. I’m actually pleased that Oz brewers are not blindly following the yanks style wise when it comes to producing big IPAs.

Can. Very dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is somewhat roasty with chocolate, oranges, some pineapple, spices. Clean with nice well defined malty flavours. The hops are rather new worldish and I’m not sure they quite go but they do have a pleasant intensity without being overwhelming. Dry and moderately bitter at the end. Pretty good.

Kölsch? FFS. In fairness, an Espresso Martini isn’t anything like a Martini either. Dark brown with a light tan head that fades to a coat. Aroma of sweetened coffee, some roast - a bit Schwarzbier-like. A bit of body, lowish carbonation. Some licorice joins the wildly inappropriate flavour line up. Bitterness is moderate and peppery. It builds to lag through the sweetness a little. I hated this more in principle than in practice. [5352 11]

Pours gold with a large head.Nose shows grassy and spicy hops as well as a bit of light citrus fruit and soft biscuity malt.Flavours include mango, grassy and piny hops, apricot. Finishes with an aggressive bitterness.

On tap at the Local Taphouse, St Kilda. Nose of coffee, caramel and vanilla. Very very dark brown/red beer with thin film on top. A little lacing. Zingy and light with a watery fruity coffee finish. A lot of coffee but not much Kölsch.

Tap at the Boilermaker House, Melbourne. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, light grapefruit citrus hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light crisp, fresh, light fruit, hop bitter palate and a moderate dry bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
