375ml can from Dan Murphy's, Menai. Hazed pale yellow colour, short-lived bubbly head and aroma of lemon, citric, flowery. Taste is sweet & tart, lemony, citrus zest, with an apple hint, and some acidity. Medium bodied, high carbonation, drying lemon acidic finish. Quite OK

More than a year ago, Colonial said they were reviewing their name after some controversy. There doesn't seem to be an outcome of this review and they haven't replied to my query after 10 days. I don't have a strong view about the controversy but dislike being fobbed off or bullshitted. So it's likely that this one will be my last Colonial beer. Can. Clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of toffee, some pine, mango skin, some grapefruit. Medium bodied. Drier than expected with toffee and bread not really getting in the way of the mainly tenor register fruity hops towards the moderately bitter finish. Pretty good.

(Can) Pours hazy dark amber with small off-white head. Nice aroma with hops to the front and notes of toffee and toast. Medium body and well carbonated. Full flavoured with plenty of malt and plenty of hops. Despite the toffee malt flavours there’s little sweetness. There’s plenty of hoppy bitterness. Pleasant enough.

Can. Almost clear golden amber with a loose coat of white head. Assertive grapefruit, pine and grass aroma with some tropical lollies (and after a while some apricot). Rather empty with little for the fruity hops to sit on so it gets a bit mean before moderate resinous bitterness and a bit of astringency at the end.

375ml can into pint glass. Thanks to Beer Cartel and Ratebeer. Subdued tropical fruit nose. Pale amber beer, slight haze. Large white foamy head, high carbonation. Good body, smooth texture. Really easy to drink. Finish has some lovely caramel notes in amongst the tropical hoppiness. Delicious, restrained IPA.

Another one for #ratebeersupertasters. Opaque orange in colour. Pine and tropical nose. Clean flavours with lovely balance of resin and mango and passionfruit. My gripe is with classification and name. That's not haze and that's not a NEIPA. Not a jot of the required chewy juicy mouthfeel, not the huge fruit forwardness. And being opaque is not enough. Don't get me wrong. It's a really solid IPA, but why confuse with the name?

From a 375ml can on 7/11/2019. Pours a slightly hazy medium golden with with a small head. Smells of orange, pineapple and papaya. The flavour is very tropical and juicy, with a mild spicy bitterness which sets of the sweet fruit nicely. Has a slightly creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. There's nothing particularly unusual going on here, but it all comes really nicely. I can see myself downing this fairly regularly. Great stuff.

Incredibly smooth, so much so that I probably underrate it a little. You really need to get it all the way up to room temperature to get the passionfruit, pine, resin and stone fruit aromas. Easy drinking, but not a really memorable NEIPA

GABS Auckland 2018. Pours orange brown. Rum, hot rum, bit of honey, so much rum, bit of coffee, hot boozy chocolate finish. Medium body. Good.

Open mouth can. Pours lovely amber with full head. Pine all over the nose. And that's how it tastes. Big, bold and verdant. I'm in love with this new hop.
