Description
Radiant Pig creates innovative, high-quality brews with colorful names and labels reminiscent of the street art found throughout NYC.

The story of Radiant Pig begins in a small Brooklyn apartment in 2013 when a former art school student and homebrewing fanatic decided to merge his two greatest passions: art and craft beer. The name Radiant Pig being a mashup of these two passions.

‘Radiant’ is inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, who was dubbed the ‘Radiant Child’ by art critic Rene Ricard. Pig is an acronym that stands for ‘people in gastropubs’, a nod to our customers and anyone who shares a love for craft beer.

Radiant Pig is a favorite amongst beer nerds and novices serving up everything from Hazy IPAs to sours, red ales and lagers. As demand and distribution has grown throughout the Northeast, we’re working on creating a brewery space and taproom in NYC where people can enjoy our beers.

Admin Note: Radiant Pig was acquired by Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling in 2020 [https://www.brewbound.com/news/radiant-pig-acquired-by-newport-craft-brewing-distilling/]

Pours a clear amber from a can. Nice surprising malty aroma and flavor, but of a noble hop note as well. Good beer.

Pours hazy dark pear into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Lemon and hay aromas. Crisp with lemon/lime and hot yeast upfront turning to mild sourdough and pith in the lasting finish.

Fairly clear copper and light amber coloured body with a touch of a golden glow and a nice, three centimetre tall off-white head on top. Aroma of pungent grassy, herbal and grapefruity hops with a lot of malt noticeable, some subdued grain and yeast on the finish. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and very herbal hop notes are evident with a lot of grainy malt as a backbone, but some fruits are noticeable and lead some subdued sweetness throughout with a touch of dryness and effervescence from the yeast on the tail end. Aftertaste is clean, but fairly bitter with the hops hitting first and foremost, but also a light sweetness noticeable, some hay dryness and a touch of those fruits as well. Overall, a pretty nice 'traditional' IPA with a great balance of malt and hops, but the tertiary flavours such as the fruit and hay make this a bit more complex than most. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased earlier in the day from Nom (near NYU) in New York, New York for US$3,50 sampled a few minutes later on the streets in New York, New York on 08-June-2019.

Can at the apartment in Brooklyn - picked up at the local Key. Pour some hazy gold with a frothy, pure white head. Pretty solid overall, nice rounded juicy citrus character, soft rindy bitterness, undertones of pale bread, melon, peach. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming finish, Moreno orange and tangerine. Highly drinkable beer.

Can courtesy of trapped, thank you very much! Clear deep deep amber color white head. Toasted caramel aroma. Taste starts malty but with a decent piney hop bitterness. Tasty.
