8 week old pint can A: Poured clear medium orange gold with a short thick lasting head. S: Zesty orange, tangerine and grapefruit citrus with dry toast and low caramel. T: Follows the nose closely with the same citrus elements. Bitter pith and zest lead with dry pith lingering into the woody ending. M: Lightish crisp body and clean dry texture bring high refreshment. O: Not too juicy or too bitter and hardly sweet at all. Very good.

Cloudy orange-gold color with a medium bone white head that recedes steadily to a film. Spotty lace. Aroma of wheat, banana and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, wheat, banana and clove. The finish is wheaty with a banana aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Giant caramel bomb of a DIPA, tons of malt sweetness offset by a modest citric hop punch backed with toast and pine. Calling this pint malt-forward would be an understatement; it's more of an American Strong Ale than an Imperial IPA, what with the hops serving mostly to balance out the hardcore caramel running throughout. A little bit of wet cardboard funkiness rounds out the back end. Fairly creamy and drinkable for 8.5%. And, while I wish the hops were dialed up at least a little bit, I haven't quit drinking yet. Kinda grows on you, I guess, once you realize this pint's more about old-school boozy maltiness than face-burning juicy hop vitriol.
