Description
The founder of this brewery is Louis Klaassens, owner of Café De Klep. From the very beginning, Louis's ambition was to open a "high-profile and successful city brewery" in Venlo. Initially, it was called Stadsbrouwerij Klaassens, which in 2018 became Stadsbrouwerij De Klep, and in 2022, Brouwerij De Klep.
Until 2022, the beers were primarily brewed at Brouwerij De Fontein. Initially, this was around 300 liters per batch, but in 2018, it increased to 1000 liters per batch.
On June 1, 2022, a dedicated brewing system was put into operation, and the brewery was established in the MOUT food hall in Venlo: the dream of having our own brewery was finally realized!

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 03/08/2025.
Deep chestnut to mahogany brown with a light beige cap that veers to the edge.
Nose is caramel, sugar, big on pear drop, stewed fruits.
Taste comprises apple, cinnamon, toffee, fruit rinds, cake mix, booze.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a lick of booze.
Passable sipper ... a touch harsh and estery ... could even have guessed at some kind of tripel from a blind tasting!

Can. Thanks to Wolf..A light haze on this amber beer, small and short lived bubbly pale tan head. Light palate, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thin bodied malts, a thin caramel and cream sweetness. Crisp bright pine and pretty mild Calvados booze and floral apple. Acacia wood? Strewth! It's been awhile but the slightly sweet and floral woodiness, rings true. Fair bit of boozy spice on the finish along with, a fair dose of sweet esters. A charmingly naieive Barleywine. No malt depth at all but, the other elements combine well enough to entertain.

0.33 l can from 'Mr. Hop', canned in December 2024. Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, gently fruity-floral aroma of peach, honey and orange peel. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently dry, minimally fruity-floral taste of grains, some orange peel, a touch of honey and hints of corn flakes, followed by a short, moderately bitter, gently dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay, not very interesting.
