Deep mahogany-to-ash-black pour has a tan head atop showing modest retention. Didn't check clarity, assuming it is clear.
Nose smells very prototypical American porter with not much of the smoke showing through in the nose. Hard to separate the smoke from the black malt/unroasted barley. But that's fine - it makes it more approachable to people that are scared off by smoked beers. Clean, with strong mineral character, coffee-like roastiness and light vanilla.
Soft, malty, dry and engagingly carbonated in the mouth with proper attenuation, plentiful coffee, vanilla, earth and mineral as seen in the nose. Lightly sticky caramel and pine-accented hops on the finish. Nicely balanced with a deep, deep, dry woodsmoke character on the aftertaste. Nice, loving smoked beers, I'd prefer more smoke character than the very light showing here, but it's perfectly fine as light background character. More importantly, the beer is clean and dry.

Pours a nice clear caramel from a can. Caramel aroma as well, some crisp biscuit. Flavor is dry, no caramel notes there, strong grain bill. Good beer.

On tap at the Industrial Way location. It's an opaque, pulpy, dark orange-light brown orange juice with no sparkle, thin cap of white head with fair retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is HUGE citrus--mostly orange. Taste follows aroma but is more lemon-orange along with grapefruit and pineapple and has a vanilla creaminess to it, likely from the malt. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied, smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, the taste has a complexity well beyond the aroma but both are really strong. Delicious.

On tap at the brewery on Industrial Way in Portland. It's an opaque black with no sparkle, finger-width beige head with decent retention and nice sudsy lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malt, chocolate and a little bit of bourbon. Taste is more bitter malts than I was expecting with fairly restrained bourbon with dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-slightly-lively carbonation stinging the tongue a bit, and finish as taste with more balance between the bourbon, sweet chocolate and bitter malts. Overall, they certainly didn't kill the base beer with bourbon so that's nice (though might be a little understated) and nice to have some hop presence. Still quite good.

Mildly hazy, deep brass with plentiful copper highlights and a thick, medium-sized, white head.
White grape, light pine and plentiful orange and lemon in the nose is pleasantly aromatic, being joined by light caramel, a touch of mineral and lingering honey.
Assertively hoppy up front with a varied malt character that adds both earth, cracker, honey and light caramel. It's quite the malt showcase but the hop bitterness and bit of juiciness keep it from feeling too malt-heavy. Soft, almost velvety body with tight carbonation and good attenuation. Still tending a bit malty for my liking, but if you are more interested in complex malt character, this one's for you.

Canned April 14th, 2021, drunk April 28th, 2021. Extremely opaque, bronze-brass with a medium-sized, persistent, creamy, white head. Strong white grapefruit and pine in the nose with a moderate helping of malt backing more in the form of bread/cracker and less-so rich honey. Maybe a touch of heat from some mix of alcohol or aspirin-like yeast character. Strong wintergreen/pine lingering. Soft and even quite viscous for the style with heavily supportive, cracker and bread-like malts that are pretty well-attenuated. It needs every bit of malt support it can get; this is aggressivly hoppy with much more pine and white grapefruit bitterness than usual for an NEIIPA. A fair amount of hop twang/slight aspirin on the end really brings it down. Even if viewed as a hybrid WCIPA and NEIPA, it still comes across too hot. Sat on em' for a week, but they didn't really improve. Maybe they needed longer? Hard to really give it too much leeway after 3 weeks in the can.

can fro americanbeers.cz. Hazy yellowwith huge white head. Earthy hops in aroma together with pines, light zest. Taste, citrus, ranges, lime, light zest, peppery finish. Good one.

Pours a hazy, pear-pineapple color, with smallish head. Aroma is juicy tropical and citrus. Flavor follows. Sweet upfront, with a fairly bitter middle and finish. Nice, soft mouthfeel. Really good beer.
