Description
Austin Street Brewery was founded in 2013 by Jake Austin and Will Fisher. The duo started out as friends and quickly realized their shared passion for craft beer and general imbibing. After several years of homebrewing on Austin Street in Westbrook, they decided to take the plunge. Self-financed and eager to begin, they purchased and assembled a one-barrel brewing system and got to work. Austin Street opened its doors on Industrial Way in Portland, Maine in early 2014. Since then, Will and Jake have maintained 100% ownership of their startup. Although this arrangement has its limitations, Jake and Will insist this is the only way for them to stay true to their creative roots while providing the best products possible to consumers and guests of their tasting rooms. Now utilizing 160 barrels of fermentation space between two production facilities, the pair is poised to maintain their position of integrity and quality in the very community that supports them.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark brown very close to black in color with a two and a half fingers of eggshell white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: roasted malts, light dark chocolate notes, sweet grains, light notes of dark coffee and a little bit of cocoa powder with a little bit more warmth
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to roasty to semi-bitter sort of quality; finishes dry with cocoa powdery to dark coffee and dark chocoaltey tones
Texture: medium bodied, sessionable; good smoothness but also a little bit of coffee grinding into the tongue - mostly non-offensive
Overall: for the most part a pretty nicely done milk/sweet stout that seems a lot less sweet than many others of it's style.

Can to mug.
Appearance: pale yellow cloudiness with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: floral to grassy hops with a nice light bready maltiness to it, sly peppery scent
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine bready sweet tone and underscored by a little bit of that noted pepper; finishes crisp with the noted floral to grassy hops
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; some smoothness, good carb level
Overall: as far as I know a nicely done Kellerbier, I think I could come back to.

Can, thought it said 7/30/25, but it's best before 7/30/25. I think it must have been canned on 4/30/25. This also sat warm on the shelf. Drunk 11/5/25 at a likely 6+ months of age! As pictured.
Very slight caramel with tasteful grapefruit and pine. Round and fruity with soft malts and just a bit of biscuit. No alcohol or resin.
Grapefruit, pine, slight caramel but no toast or resin. Malts are soft, supple, deep, pretty nicely attenuated. Like a NEIPA with WC tendencies, or maybe just mostly the hops being PNW-like. Some spice, lots of grapefruit, wood and mild pine. Nice balance and no big caramel or overbearing malt. Low-to-moderate, tasteful bitterness.

Wow, a great Austin Street beer...don't see that very often these days!
