Bottle from the brewery. Pours a fairly clear dark brown/black color with a bubbly tan head that shows great retention. Aromas of pumpkin spices offset with some roasty, chocolate, and earthy notes, but the spice is up front and intense. The flavor holds a bit more caramel light chocolate and roast with plenty of the aforementioned pie spices. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation. I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin beers, but I try them every year hoping to figure out what all the fuss is for. This one isn’t bad I could drink a pint or two if I had too. ;)

Bottle from the brewery Pours a hazy light golden color with a tightly bubbled white head that persists. Old school bready light caramel maltiness with citrus light pine and faint earth to counter. Fairly firm lingering hop bitterness with just a hint of astringency. Pretty tasty throwback to the IPA’s of the late 90’s

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Smoke aromas. Medium bodied with soy and smoke upfront turning to sweet licorice before returning to smoke in the lasting finish.

Bottle from the Lazy Dog Pours a slightly hazy deep golden color with a big bubbly white head that dissipates slowly. Spicy earthy on the nose with a hint of bready malt. Fruity earthy bready flavor with a light peppery spice up front. Light peppery warming in the back of the throat fills out the finish. Not intensely spicy but more of a fruity peppery flavor that does meld quite well with the base beer. Nice job!

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is pure yellow (somewhat like urine) without sparkle, small head that faded quickly to ring, no lacing. Aroma is nice honeydew melon, sweet fruity. Taste is fruity, mix of blueberry and honeydew. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation with slightly sweet, dry finish with burst of creamy carbonation. Overall, a pleasant fruit beer (when you’re craving that kind of thing) in aroma and taste.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is clear, very pale yellow (almost looks watered down), no sparkle, mild white head fading to ring, no lacing. Aroma is yeasty, wheat, cracker malt. Taste is moderately tart with robust cracker/biscuit in back half. Palate is light bodied with average-to-thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation with biscuit/cracker malt mixed with tart finish. Overall, appearance is a little weak but pretty nice all around otherwise.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is golden yellow, no sparkle, mild head, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately strong fruit, citrus. Taste is fruit, malt bordering on double IPA territory. Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, average carbonation with mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, a nice IPA with strong flavors and balance without getting overly bitter.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is pale yellow (urine like), with a bit of sparkle, small white head, mild lacing. Aroma is nice champagne yeasty, wine. Taste is similar to a Chardonnay, light champagne, mild esters. Palate is medium bodied with average-to-lively carbonation at back of tongue, finish is mix of sweet and tart. Overall, a nice tripel with a good mix of tart and sweet and reminiscent of wine/champagne.

Taster pour at the source (avg 2016 and 2020-nitro versions). Appearance is clear amber with no sparkle, finger-width creamy off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma has a citrus spiciness to it (reminiscent of bug spray) and malty. Taste is strong caramel, malt, spiciness, pine, mild dark fruit. Palate is medium bodied with thick, creamy texture, soft-to-average carbonation and sweet finish with lingering piney bitterness. Overall, pretty much as it should be though aroma has a weird, synthetic sense to it.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is dark brown, like cola, small off-white head, nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, mild anise. Taste is roasted malt--almost like a cross between a Schwarzbier and a black IPA--dry, dark fruit. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with average texture, average-to-lively carbonation and abrupt, mildly roasty dry finish. Overall, an enjoyable and interesting beer without a clearcut category. Maybe that made a difference for me because I kept trying to compare it to a category rather than just enjoy if for itself.
