Bouteille 341ml. De couleur orange-ambrée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées aux notes aigres (agrumes, traces de bananes et d’ananas) avec des notes d’épices (poivre), de blé et des traces de houblon floral. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-fort et une texture légèrement crémeuse. Goût de levures fruitées très légèrement aigres (agrumes, surtout citron, notes de bananes) accompagné de notes épicées (poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute des notes de blé, de pain et de grains de malt pâle puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon floral aux notes herbeuses (gazon mouillé). Post-goût moyen et un peu sec, légèrement amer de houblon floral avec un goût fruité (zest d’agrumes). (2005)

Bottle: Poured a cleat bright golden color ale with a small foamy head with good retention and not much lacing. Aroma of fruity peachy ester with light sweet malt notes. Taste is also a nice enough mix between some sweet fruity ester with distinct notes of peach and light sweet malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not great by any stretch but ester really comes out and I must admit that there is some potential.

A clear blonde with a thin white head. Grainy malt aroma, light hopping, non-descript. In mouth, a light crisp ale, veering on macro lager territory, light cereal malt, rather short in mouth. If you wanted to make a beer for the independist movement, at least make one with character....and at 2.69$ a bottle, its really a steal....as in stealing.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light grainy malt is not overly complex. Taste is quiet bland with some grainy malt and light lingering sweetness. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad just not very interesting.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur brune-cuivrée et semi-voilée. Nez de sirop d’érable, moyen de caramel sucré et de sucre brun avec des notes de levures fruiétes (agrumes) ainsi que des traces boisées. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement huileuse. Notes de levures fruitées (agrumes) accompagné d’un léger goût bois (bois sec et traces de fumée de bois) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un moyen goût malté de caramel sucré, un léger goût de sirop d’érable et des petites notes de sucre brûlé et de malt rôti puis en finale l’on retrouve des notes amères de houblon herbeux (herbes mouillées). Post-goût moyen et aux notes sèches, très légèrement amer de houblon herbeux et de rôti avec des notes boisées, fruitées (zest d’agrumes) ainsi que des notes de sirop d’érable en arrière-goût.

Last on my Schoune tasting list and probably my most favorite. Bought at xmas market in Belgium. Pours copper thin off white head. Aroma of fresh berries with udnerlying malty nose, some vinegary notes and chocolate. Taste, berry like palate; raspberries giving a nice tart mouthfeel with chocolate mats.

This is labelled Reb’Ale and clocks in at 6.9% pours amber, with thick off white head. Aroma was lightly yeasty, malty, some mapple notes and bourbon like wood (most likely something else). Taste, caramel malts with the now typical Schoune signature taste. Finish is lightly hoppy with mustard seed like palate and light bitterness, some brown sugar, alcohol is enjoyable.

3rd beer from this brewery, and a lot better. Bought xmas market in Belgium. Pours amber with white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, light yeasty nose with a chestnuts like aroma. Taste, caramel malts, light cocoa and light dark fruits, remains light in body and crisp finish.

Bottle in Belgium. Second beeer fro, this brewery that is just falling short. My first review covered the overly vinegary problems of their beer. This one does seem to have fermentation problems. Pours a light golden haze with thick white head. Aroma is very yeasty and phenolic apple with some citrus hops elements. Taste left a very astringent palate that was very yeasty. It was not as vinegary as the previous beer but did contain too much apple like astrigency with a lively crisp carbonation and some grassy hops. At this point, I am not sure if this is the intended yeast strain they are using and the way the beer is supposed to be or if they are having quality issues in production. All ratings seem to be either big miss or hit.

Bottle. Seems to be very hit or miss. Pours a straw golden with fizzling white head. Aroma of sweet mapple and some sweet honey. Taste was light on the mapple side, and I found the palate to be overly bitter almost sour with a bad vinegary palate that leaves a bad acididc feel on the teeth. Crisp, high carbonation. Something is missing here. This is oxydized, I can’t finish the bottle.
