Description
Proud Early Bird of Craft Beer - The Big Rock Story
17,000 years ago, a glacier carried a huge rock onto the Alberta prairies where none like it had been before. This "big rock" is the glacial erratic we take our name from, as no doubt, our founder's notion of creating a craft brewery in 1985 was a bit erratic at the time.
The rooster represents our early arrival as craft brewers. It's also a bit of a nod to the "cock of the walk" bravura that Ed McNally had when he started Big Rock Brewery.
We craft our beer with our brewmasters’ skill and imagination, utilizing local ingredients and innovative processes, all rooted in Ed McNally's original passion for excellence and in doing things differently and better.

Big rock, keeping up their mediocrity. This is brewed for the masses. Light corny, vegetal aroma, no hops, very little grains. Needs to be served ice cold, cause you might get a bit of actual taste. God knows we cant have our beer taste like anything, i just want some straight easy drinking nothing to get me smashed! Thank god for the no aftertaste.

On tap. Boat loads of mollasses malt and slightly roasted grains. Quite syrupy and thick. Lots of cheap grains, this tastes almost like an extract homebrew beer.

Golden pour quckly dispating head. Aroma of cheap macro malts and a hint of cheap hops might even be extract. Flavor is slightly corny and there is a sweet caramel flavor associated with the malt and the hop completely disapear. This is a boring runof the mill macro ale.

clear amber pour witha quickly fading head. Aroma of gingerbread, tocuhes of cinnamon, and a nutmeg. Flavor is quite sweet, and a touch cloying. More ginger notes, and cinnamon, but next to no hops, and very little malt. Kinda like a cookie in a glass, but not really beer. meh.

aroma is nice. lots of coffee, and some nice chocolate, with a touch of roasty malt. flavour is wattery. i find it quite thin, the flavour does not live up tothe aroma.

I can’t believe i haven’t rated this before! i used to drink on a semi regular basis. Its a pretty middle of the road, maybe even sub par brown ale. Wattery, and thin like most fo the Big Rock beers, some slight malt notes, and a touch of roast, but meh, pretty boring.

Nice dark amber color. sweet malt, and a little bit of hops in the aroma. Flavour is pretty weak, and thin. slight fruity notes, aftertaste for some odd reason is grassy. not very pleasant beer.

Tastes quite round and blonde ale-like. But it is clean and crisp and full bodied. Sk co-op variety pack
