Can from the brewery. Toasted malt, with distinctive ashy notes, syrup sweetness. Some bitterness in the finish. Fine not stellar.

Can from the lcbo. Hazy yellow pour, large white head. Aroma is grassy, pale cereals, light hops, light pine, but pretty boring. Low bitterness, easy drinking but pretty bland. Not awful, but awfully boring.

Great roasted malt aroma, robust and chocolatey. The chai tea is subtle but pleasant, with some nice grassy hops. The chai mingles wonderfully with the roasted malts. Medium bitterness, with a solid roasty, dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub.
Black pour, medium off white head. Aroma of light pine, with solid roasted malts. Solid mouthfeel and carb. Light roast in the finish with a very u derwhelming hop presence. I was expecting more.

I find this funny, in an area that is starved for hoppy beer, one of the hoppiest i’ve had from around here is considered an APA? Great grapefruit, and citrus aroma with a touch of skunky hops, but i like that in a big hoppy beer. THe flavor is very well balanced with the malt that is really adding a much needed back bone, i really like this.

Just found some notes about this one i had at the brewpub when i live in Toronto.
Light caramel color. Served at the perfect temperature. Nose is slightly hoppy, and quite spicy, lots of spices, and a slight wine aroma also. Flavour is quite interesting, again its spicy with some caramel in the background. A nice barley wine. An odd barley wine.....quite spciy.
