Description

Depanneur Peluso, Montreal 50cl ($5): Pours mostly clear brown with a beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, sugar, and a healthy dosing of yeast. Taste is not very complex or large. Fortunately this is no too sweet. Strange slightly sour taste in there. I think the aroma is fine, but the taste could have used some work.

Depanneur Peluso, Montreal 50cl ($5.49): Pours slightly cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is banana with a healthy dosing of hops. Taste is fairly bitter, way more so than would be expected from a hefe. The finish is nice and bready but interspersed with some hoppy bitterness, which then lingers onto the aftertaste. The wheat beer notes are certainly here, but the hops take the cake here. I like it plenty.

Pours a deep brown colour with red highlights, a warm beige head, good retention and creamy lacing. Aromas of fruit cake with the fruits and nuts. Caramel as well. The alcohol just slightly warms up. Flavours of roasted malts, sugars with some notes of anise and loads of dark fruits. Bottled "10 MAI 2013", so over a year ago and still quite good. Goes down too well !

Bottle: Poured an amber/orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit and citrus hops is very enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by tropical fruits notes with some solid notes of citrus hops with light residual sugar notes with light dry caramel malt presence. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Very enjoyable and refreshing for style.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with good enough retention and some light lacing. Aroma of American oak is quite dominant with light vanilla notes with some grainy caramel malt notes also easily detectable. Taste is also dominated by some grainy caramel malt with some cereal notes with some huge dominant notes of American oak with loads of woody notes and some subtle vanilla notes. I usually don’t have a sweet tooth but in this particular case I would have liked residual sugars to be more apparent.
