Ever so slightly hazy golden coloured body with a brighter orange glow and a very thin, single centimetre tall, just off-white head. Aroma of very light hops, some smooth citrus along with a light dose of sugars and showing some light bitterness in the nose along with some soft malts. Medium-bodied; Relatively balanced hop and malt bite that shows some juicy and slightly citrusey hops with a Cascade bite along with a supportive malt backbone and some light sugars towards the end, but fairly straight-forward. Aftertaste shows some harsh metallic and pugent malt notes with a light hit of cardboard and some fake sugars, but the hops do show some bitterness and citrus flavours and leave things closer to an APA than a staler barely hoppy golden ale. Overall, a decent APA that is slightly on the lighter side, at least in terms of hops and bitterness, but nice to try if you can find it here in the area. I sampled this sixteen ounce pint, on draught at Big Time Pizza in Hot Springs, South Dakota on 29-June-2020 for US$5,00 while on vacation with my family.

Deep dark brown coloured body, only around 50 per cent opaque, with a fairly thin, single centimetre tall tan head that fades relatively quickly and without any movement at all down below. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, light earth and a dash of caramelised sugar, but also a touch of light spices and a dash of the alcohol towards the end. Medium-bodied; Strong toasted malt flavours dominate with some nuts, earth, mild spices and a dash of toffee and sugars with some light alcohol and the ever present malt noticeable throughout. Aftertaste shows some toasted malt, light spice, apple, pear and softer stone fruits along with their sweetness noticeable, but the majority of the flavour is on the earthier and slightly rustic maltiness along with some caramelised sugars and toffee flavours that really show through at the end. Overall, a decent enough scotch ale that shows slightly on the imperial side of things, but not really in that group, in my opinion, despite the alcohol content - the flavours just weren't there. I sampled this sixteen ounce pint on draught at Thirsty's in Rapid City, South Dakota on 01-July-2020 for US$4,00 sampled while eating my last dinner here in South Dakota before returning home to Washington in the morning!
