16 oz. can, shared by Ian. Black pour, with a small, tan head. Mild coffee and dark chocolate, anise, and blackstrap molasses. Sweet up front, with a pretty strong, roasted bitterness that runs through the finish. Heavy body, syrupy, sticky, and grainy. This is a solid, aggressive stout, but a bit too roasty for my tastes.

Can filled 6/15 into a tulip. A: Orange-y gold with fine haze and thick one finger head. Decent retention but little visible carbonation or lacing. S: Sharp citrus or sour orange and spruce. Not much else but smells delicious. T: Very tart hops bite first and the tartness lingers. Pine resin and slight pith noticed afterward. Malts lost so sort of one dimensional. Very dry with no sweetness. M: Light, dry and puckering, with tartness and resin creating a lingering mild finish. Lowish carbonation. O: Very nice if you like fruity ales. Could stand a bit more maltiness but overall, I wouldn’t change a thing. A good substitute for Lynnwood Mosaic. I’ll buy more.

Six week old can filled 7/13/16 into a tulip. A: Pours a volatile bubbly head atop a hazy pale gold body. Little retention or lace. Very active carbonation. S: Lemon and pear scent a la kolsch. Hops muted and malts unnoticed. Vinous. T: Stiff bitter bite emerges from the thin body. Seltser-y, with a bit of lemon tartness. Pear or grape finishing. Not much flavor but what’s there is nice. M: Light, thin and fizzy with a clean and fairly dry finish. Crushable. O: Light on body and flavor (and ABV) but refreshing and sessionable. Overall not bad but probably a pass moving forward.
