Description
The people behind Pale Fire Brewing Co. love the moment creativity is sparked and the fact that there is generally a great beer close by. The big idea, scribbled first on a bar napkin. Friends noodling around guitars, who suddenly realize they’ve hit on something great. Stories, told around a campfire, when nobody has a clue what time it is. Great beer is there.

In 2013, a space in a renovated Ice House in downtown Harrisonburg became available. It was perfect; the wheels were in motion. Pale Fire Brewing Co. opened in April 2015.

Pale Fire beer is currently distributed in Virginia by Virginia Eagle in Harrisonburg, Blacksburg, Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Winchester and Northern Virginia; and also by Specialty Beverage in Richmond, Roanoke, and Tidewater. You can also find Pale Fire beer in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, distributed by Legends Limited. Our beer is available in 1/6 barrel and 1/2 barrel kegs, 12oz bottles, and small runs of 16oz cans.

Visit our Tap Room, which is open daily at 1pm.

Pale Fire Brewing Co. is part of the Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail and the Shenandoah Spirits Trail.

Total Wine, Fairfax cans: pours golden with a fairly large head. Aroma is peppery and spicy with light yeast. Taste is fairly bitter especially at the finish. Lots of pepper and spice. Not the most chuggable saison and probably a bit too spicy for me.

Tap at World of Beer in...some DC suburb - turbid straw - nose of apricot and peppery phenolics - watery texture - medium sweet, with some peach and apricot that honestly tastes like baby food sometimes - a bit of white pepper, followed by a somewhat harsh bitterness - thin finish - meh.

A new local for me, pleasantly surprised. On tap at Spacebar, pours a hazy neon yellow with some soapy, lacing white head. Really enjoyed the nose, orange blossom, grass, perfume, tangerine, some pale grist. Flavor is sweet with malt and honey, floral, grassy too, mild herbs, muddled citrus. Finishes bitter and just a touch sweet but very drinkable, even with 85 IBUs.
