Red Clay Ciderworks is stoked to be Charlotte’s first hard cider producer. We use a unique blend of North Carolina apples to create a refreshing cider that’s not too sweet. With quality as our focus, we think you’ll be just as juiced to drink our small-batch ciders as we are to make them!

I keep forgetting that I’d like to have a cider from every state and miss out on opportunities while traveling. Not today. Orange pour. Nose is sweet apple and some wood and grass. Tastes of apple pie, some tart crab apple, wood tones, grass, hint of white wine. Decent

Can at NC Cider Fest. Hazy, sorta still, fresh cider look. Smell is moderate spices & apple acidity. Taste is gentle to moderate spices & a noticeable amount of roasted pumpkin; back-sweetened. The pumpkin puree also add some lovely texture. Not a bad seasonal.

On tap @ Carolina Cider Fest in Asheville. Mostly clear, pale gold. Grainy, faint dessert apple essence. Taste is semi sweet apples if slightly industrial, mellow bitter skin, decent acid, low tart, goopy feel. Could be better.

Can from trader joes. Rare Vos glass @home. Clear, filtered, violet, soft lace. Really on point pie crumble crust. Vanilla yogurt, soft cinnamon, sliced tart apples, nutmeg. Can tells me there is no nutmeg. Taste is kinda nice. Vanilla blackberry, very granola, delicate but lingering cinnamon. Weak yogurt sour, more apple & spice. Heavier on the vanilla than I would have expected. Pleasant lingering tartness. Half crispy, hidden big acidity, sharp & sorta boozy. No bullshit dust spice buildup. I usually hate spiced ciders but this was well done.

Pint can from TJ's. Rare Vos glass @home. Clear, violet, somewhat still pour. Boozy, grape, sharp blackberry juice & floral. Tart apple-blackberry juice box. Way too similar to lunch time. Pucker, lots of grape skin, astringent & slightly medicinal, borderline sour. Okay.

Pounder from 604. Pure rate grab. Stemless wine glass @home. Dark, jelly haze iced tea. Smell is genuine cucumber & watermelon rind, condensed, floral & slightly sweeter. Taste is sweet cooked apples, tart melon, some cooling cucumber. Faintly tart, watermelon dominant, earthy & slightly metallic finish. Very low carb, yeasty-ish, mellow abv, backsweetened as per the back label. Wouldn't be bad as a frozen popsicle(or maybe a lot of vodka). Poor as cider.

Cans from Appalachian. No born on or bb date. Russian Roulette. Every. Single. Day. Pint glass @home. Middle of the day. Middle of the week. No judge zone. Clear, spotty lace. Beer-like amber brew. Smells like a sticky sweet Euro pale lager. Could be apples, could be suspect malt extract. It's not obvious. Caramel-y apple essence. Round & flabby. Low acid, low tart, mellow medicinal bitterness. Actually tastes like a really old lager. Some additional brown sugar sweetness as it warms up on the end. This is the lazy backsweetening. Obviously oxidized. Nearly flat, slick, sugary/almost syrupy texture. Took a while to find a tick from this local place. I now see why. Sucks.

@ the cidery. Aroma is floral with some berry notes. A little spicy. Lots of berries. Off dry. Kind of interesting but average at this place.

@ the cidery. Slightly hazy light appearance. Smells like stinky feet and funk. Fairly thin. A little dank but lots of stinky feet. Yuck.
