Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 1/30/2017. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big peanut butter, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, toasted dark bread, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, peanut butter, chocolate, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big peanut butter, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, toasted dark bread, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peanut butter, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, toasted dark bread, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, peanut butter, chocolate, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is an excellent American porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, peanut butter, chocolate, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Impressively rich malt complexity, with great PB/chocolate presence and balance. Pretty much identical to the imperial version, but this is a little more intense on roast/coffee notes and earthy hop presence. A really enjoyable offering.

can - Pours mostly clear gold and smells mainly of citrusy hops. The flavor has good bitterness with a little resin and a lot of juicy citrus/tangerine. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Bottle, almost room temp, about 60F. Big and black, giant dull roasted IPA aroma. Yes, black IPA it is with this perfumy sweeter effects down inside, yes, that sweetness I detect must be that fricken vanilla bean, quite different than most other vanilla beers I’ve had fer sure. Quite floral and perfumy on the palate, so different than most black IPA. Of course it has that horny goat back beat going on in there like any other slightly rude horny, but what - ev-vah.

12 ounce can. Pale yellow gold color. Large frothy white head. Light grainy malt nose, hinting at Wonder Bread. Light grainy malt flavor is sweet, with notes of lemon, hay and buttered linguini. Light and drinkable. Not much else.

12 ounce can. 5.5% ABV. Pours a bright honey gold color. Small frothy white head. Unusual toasted malt nose is redolent of vinegar and piss. Flavor is toasted malt and light citrus hops. Decent body and some hop bitterness. Dryish bitter citrus hop finish.

This beer pours a dark brown color with a medium frothy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, peanut butter and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of roasted nuts, malt, chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a peanut butter cup aftertaste. pretty good overall.

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a amber/brown sort of color with a barely any head.
The aroma had some caramel, burnt chocolate, coffee grounds and cooked dark fruit.
The flavor blends all of those previously mentioned aromas extremely sweet feeding a weird sort of artificial flavor. Wet super sweet candy-ish aftertaste and the same sort of finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with an unspeakable sessionability that would make one think - where’s the beef on this body? Nope, not there. Low carbonation. ABV seems ok.
Overall, a porter with no body and an overly sweetened aroma and flavor. Brewery tickin’, yeah, sure, but almost making me think what the rest of their beers are like.

Can from 7-11 Dark brown with ruby highlights and a decent sized tan head that persists. Huge peanut butter cup on the nose with a bit of earth at the edges. Flavor follows through but leaves a bit of sharp bitterness in the finish. Certainly tastes as advertised, tasty and interesting beer.

Pour is a brown with very little head at all. Aroma is as advertised, caramel and plenty of it. Think creme brule. Flavor is all caramel with very little of the salt showing up, which is fine by me. Taste more like candy than a beer. I don’t know what flavorings this brewer is using to get the beer to taste this way but I have to admit it is pretty flavorful.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/29/2016. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big peanut butter, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, toasted dark bread, light coffee, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, peanut butter/chocolate, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of peanut butter, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, toasted dark bread, light coffee, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of peanut butter, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, toasted dark bread, light coffee/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, peanut butter/chocolate, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; a bit of lingering hop/roast astringency builds through the glass, but never overwhelming. Light dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is great imperial porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, peanut butter/chocolate, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Other than the bit of lingering astringency, I have no complaints. Impressively rich malt complexity, with great PB/chocolate presence and balance. A very enjoyable offering.
