Description
As of 5/24/25 Wasatch Brewery beers will no longer be brewed in Utah. They will be brewed in the Monster Brewing network.
“Where’s the beer? Where are the breweries?” Those were among the first thoughts Greg Schirf had after moving to Utah from Milwaukee in the early 80’s. Incredibly, drinking and brewing were all but forbidden. Greg took matters into his own hands and did what any self-respecting midwesterner would do: He started a brewery. Wasatch was the very first brewery in Utah – and one of the first craft brewers in all of the U.S. – brewing award-winning brews since 1986.
In 1988, Greg Schirf proposed another bill to the Utah Legislature making brewpubs legal in Utah and opened the first brewpub at the top of historic Main Street in the resort town of Park City. Wasatch continues to misbehave, turning out naughty beer after naughty beer year after year.

Crisp, ever so slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of coriander seed, full oranges, grass, flowers, yeast, light bread and a touch of dry grain - very nice in the nose with a faint glimmer of hops. Light to Medium-bodied; Deep citrusey flavours at first that show some pungent curacao along with a dry grain and coriander seed floral quality that then shows a light bitterness from grassy and floral hops and eventually a good malt backbone and stronger soft (lower alpha acid) hop bitterness that is very noticeable at the end. Aftertaste is dry and grassy with a dash of the curacao and orange sweetness and finishing with a good balance of malts and softer hop bitterness that shows some light floral and grassy flavours. Overall, a pretty nice White IPA and while it's a style that I've missed, I'm glad this one is done right and available! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Philips 66 Mini-Mart in Spearfish, South Dakota on 26-June-2020 for US$1,63 sampled in my hotel room here in Wall, South Dakota on 29-June-2020.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a muddied brown glow and an almost ruby coloured tint towards the bottom, all with a nice, two to three centimetre tall off-white and even tan head on top. Aroma of roasted malt, toast, nuts, light grain, a ton of pitted fruits and some molasses towards the end - all quite strong in the malt department. Medium to almost Full-bodied; Very strong nutty and earthy flavours dominate with a ton of caramelised sugars along with some pit fruits in the mix, showing a nice touch of grain and bitterness, all ending with some light hop bitterness and a dose of alcohol at the very end. Aftertaste is rich, robust and full of malt characteristics with some pitted fruits, caramel and toffee that show a nice robust characteristic and even complexity, with the malt front and centre. Overall, a nice and respectable doppelbock, and especially a lager with a ton of flavours, but a rich and complex sweetness at the end. Good to sample and the age might have helped this one a touch, since the body was still nice, there was a ton of complexity and hardly any alcohol notes in the nose or in the flavour. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha, Nebraska on 14-March-2018 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington just over two years later on 18-May-2020.

Enjoy by June 24th 2020 stamped on the bottom of the can.
It pours a lightly hazed straw gold with a fine head of foam, lacing is pretty good.
Smells of pineapple, mango, orange peel, bitter grapefruit citrus.
The taste is a blend of everything that I mentioned except that the flavours are not as bold as the smell. Well, it is only 5% abv.
Medium bodied with a good mouthfeel.
Not too shabby.

Can 35,5 cl. Pours an almost clear orangey brown with a small and creamy, lacing beige head. Biscuity and caramellish nose with a hint of citrusy hops - archetypal American. Rich, sweet caramel body, lowish carbonation - bordering a Doppelbock. A little late balancing hops. An Old Ale can be so many things, this is one take on the style and I quite enjoyed it. 040320

12 oz. can purchased at Total Wine & Liquor in Colorado Springs, CO. Pours a very dark mahogany color with a small beige head and decent retention. Very good lacing. Aroma of strong ale. Tastes like caramel, molasses, bourbon and some dank hops. Fairly medicinal. Heavy body. I'm not a fan of the profile.
