On tap at the brewery. Pours with a hazed amber to orange body with a big off-white head. Aroma shows a lot of fruit like esters (notably pear), brandy, light hop notes and a good amount of caramel. Flavors of apricot, dried stone fruit, sticky caramel, estery. Well hidden alcohol with medium carbonation. Dried cherry notes linger. Pretty good!

Tap at the brewery - six bucks for a five ounce glass - hazy straw color - flavor is messy sweet malts, fusel alcohol/solvent, dms/boiled vegetable - it’s usually pretty easy to hide flaws in an Imperial IPA, so that fact that they are so obvious in the beer is an achievement in and of itself - sweetness subsides in the finish, making room for an intense, soapy bitterness - astringent acidity - a hot mess of a beer - worst six bucks I’ve spent in a long time.

At first, I was suspicious of this being another entry, assuming it was the same as their other farmhouse ale - however, this is clearly a different beer - much drier and mor tart, with a higher abv - moderately phenolic, with a bit of crackery malt and quite a bit of citric tang - a bit of malt sweetness on the tail end is a bit unwelcome, but the tartness persists enough to balance it a bit - mild funkiness in the finish - decent.

Tap at Falling Rock - medium amber beer - much like their belgian pale, there isn’t must particularly belgian or saison-like about this - the malts are too rich and sweet, running counter to the dry, crisp character one expects from the style - it is lightly estery and tart through the middle and finish, adding a vague and muddled belgian character to the overall experience, but most of the flavor is dominated by the sweetness of the malt and the bitterness of the hops - not a bad beer, but not a saison in the least.

I am thoroughly impressed wit this - a quality fruit beer that finds the perfect balance between sweet/tart/acidic - the base beer seems like a simple wheat ale that works as a wonderful, subdued base to showcase the fruit - earthy cherry flavor explodes on the palate, meat, skin, pit and all - a wee bit of spice and just the faintest kiss of oak - semidry, acidic finish - delicious - a lot of love went into this beer.
